I think it's a stunning building. The way the light is directed and filtered through basic shape and colour is amazing. It seems a very spiritual place for me. He built several religious buildings, all of which are fascinating and inspiring imho.

Simply a remarkable building! Even though the building program was somewhat changed prior to actual construction to include various community exhibition spaces on the lower levels, it still remains true to Corbusier's overall sense of detailing. I'm somewhat amazed in general by the complexity of construction and careful detailing. My guess is had it been built during Corbusier's lifetime the quality of the concrete workmanship would have been somewhat cruder. The town of Firmany is to be congratulated for building this unique chapel as a lasting memory to Le Corbusier.

Thanks for the comment. I agree with you, but I wouldn't believe that Corbusier would've let it be cruder, so I also wonder how Corbusier would've dealt with it if it had been built during his lifetime.

Je connais, très impressionné lors de ma visite du site complet, comment tient cet édifice ? Formidable acoustique, beau sujet d'études pour les écoles d'architecture.

This building is used as church. Residents in this town do actual worship and ceremony here as ordinary church. Thanks for the comment.

On paper this monstrosity is a church. It was inaugurated in 2006, but no masses are held there. Le Corbusier didn't go to church, he rejected organized religion. Unfortunately it shows. The building is anti-catholic. It doesn't emphasize God, it displays a vague reference to the stars that surround us, nothing more. It's a cinema, or a planetarium. Le Corbusier was of course entitled to his own opinion. I fully respect that. But then he should have called the building a temple, or an assembly hall, whatever. But not a church.

At last, a person who sees the ugliness and falsity of this building. Yes, it is not really a church because the building makes no references to God. There is nothing here to instruct or inspire because Le Corbusier was irreligious and it shows. Despite his claims that he studied and took into consideration the needs and sensibilities of his clients, he never did. What he built, he built as a sculpture to glorify his sense of his own genius. Le Corbu was a humbug. The neighbors called this concrete heep "the coal bucket". When the bishop saw what was being built, he refused anymore funding. As it ages, it will look even shabbier than it does now and probably the elite snobs will declare this to be a precious monument to be protected. I wonder how future generations will view how we got taken in by phonies like Le Corbusier.

Thanks for the comment. Yes, you could say that. I get your point indeed, but I strongly believe that there are still many features I should consider to learn from it. :)
