Music changes. If the world was stuck on French house (which would be impossible as copyright has killed the ease of sampling), then house music as a whole would have died off. There's a reason why there's so many subgenres of house out there. Why, just in the 80's alone, you had Chicago, garage, acid, deep, and hip house, not to mention Italo house, UK house, Detroit house (not Detroit techno), etc.
