Pretty late to write it, but if anyone will read my comment I recommend reading manga as well. It is not as good as anime is, but it gives more details about Eiri´s character, Cossette´s goal and an alternative ending. It consists of 2 volumes and the finale one was released just before the finale episode release.

i read the manga too. i like the story better, its a bit different than the anime. however, i like the anime's ending better.
