I am a Diamond Setter for over 50 years and I fully understand how intricate this kind of setting can be. This style of pave' setting is the epitome of diamond setting. No mistakes are even allowed. Someone said this takes too long to film, I believe the project took over TWO DAYS from start to finish. You are a skilled craftsman!!!...Gerry Lewy from Toronto, Canada.

Hello Gerlad, I was reading your comment and was wondering if you could tell me how one becomes an apprentice for these high jewellery brands, and where one would learn to make all the building blocks for any design thrown at you... Thank you :)

I'd have to agree. I don't know too many other jewelers my age and it's sad. I'm 22 and and went to jewelry school right out of high school. I love studying the different stone setting techniques. Jewelry is my life and I plan on making it for the rest of my life. To the complete master jeweler/stone setter in this video: Amazing work, this piece has truly inspired me. I've watched your video over and over. Thanks for sharing.

I would love to learn but very few masters take on apprentices who have not been through a formal education and as you say, the business is dying away thanks to cheap factories. Still, I know I'd love to learn!

This is the sad tendency in many fields.... I guess that in the end, people will have to reduce their personal needs to the minimum in order to being able to continue doing their vocations. I also guess that the only positive point is that we will have a better estimation of what is valuable in this life, leading to a lesser consumerist lifestyle. But the transition will be tough, very long and very hard to bear while rotten people govern us.

I am 25 years old and live in New York. I'm in transition, both looking for a job and waiting for college to mail me back some papers. I have to say that I have fallen in love with gems and jewellery, it is a perfect combination of art and science. After this round of degrees I will be going to G.I.A for my Graduate Gemologist diploma. I have a bunch of rough stones and some polished stones, what I'm asking is, would anyone in NYC give me an apprencticeship? I have to learn, can't wait anymore.

Bonjour, comment appel ton l'outil(pièce a main pour faire un filé) pour tracer utilisé dans la [vidéo 4:24] ? merci
@kadakado45310 жыл бұрын

The bigger the population, the more rich people... yes... but even more poor people also, so the percentage of rich people is even thinner... Money is like a cake, the more people, the smaller the parts... and the more rich some people are, the even smaller the slices of cake for the rest... While the abstract concept of economy can be infinite, the real world can't follow as it is finite and so its resources...

Necesitas un curso de engastado porque asi no puedes engastar 400 gemas en un dia, eso no se hace así, y lo siento decir, solo tengo el ánimo de construir y no de destruir, si te lo digo es para que busque otra forma mejor.

I'm a jeweler ,and i think the way this ring is set wrong,because its not pave since the distribution of the stones is not done right,such work should be started from the center and there should be used different sizes of stones so that it comes out perfect.but i like the tools that is used .thank you
@SimpleUser1112 жыл бұрын
May be yes, may be no... You know, the bigger the population on our planet, the more rich people. People, who want something exclusive, hi-end. Cheap asian workers can`t satisfy this kind of customers.
