He said they told them not to talk to the stars during fittings but Stockard didn't care and she was the nicest person. This is one of my all-time favorite movies! I taped it off the TV back in the 90's when Russian TV still showed all kinds of movies. and I watched it with my very traditional Russian grandmother who, surprisingly, had no problem with either gay men, or gay men in drag. I'll never forget the talk I had with her when she first found out about gay people (as she claimed that gay people did not exist in the Soviet Union) and her reaction was priceless. She started to cry and said, But if they are the same gender, they can't have their own children and that's just not fair 😢 I wish more people were like her because there's too much intolerance in Russia, and from the young people as well, which is the most depressing part...

So I was watching John explain how in the movie, he purposely wore his makeup too light in the beginning of the movie because of the colorism in the Latin community and he had Aunties that their faces were 3-4 shades lighter than their necks and by the end of the movie when his foundation matches his neck it shows he’s comfortable in the skin he’s in. I remember watching one other review for this and they pointed out how normally drag queens don't stay in drag lol. I just said that it's because they billed it as action stars in drag it would be weird if the majority of the time they weren't. I think they could have fixed it by maybe something happening on the road with the cop when they were out of drag and then had to stay in drag to disguise themselves.

I saw this film when I was a little girl. I was visiting family in the US (from Ireland) I absolutely adored this movie. I thought Noxeema, Vida and Chi-Chi were on the same level as fairy godmothers. They just seemed so magical and beautiful to me.
