Can she sing this of course she can. Can she interpret it the way Patti LuPone did? Hell no! That’s the fucking problem. These are great singers, they are musical, but so many times unless they’re in a show I feel nothing. I would love to have seen her put the introduction to this song into this song. I mean there are so many great singers now. However,all of this greatness is a dime a friggin dozen. Who is gonna blow our socks off? Not too many.

Lea Salonga's voice is more powerful and absolutely beautiful than Patti Lu Pone. I saw this new Old Friends production recently and I was mesmerized on how she delivered this song, way better than the original Mama Rose.

Doesn't sound to me like you've seen it. Lea Salonga is sensational and pulls this off. I was at the matinee yesterday and my third visit. I much prefer this performance than the overblown hooting of LuPone or Staunton (God bless them)
