Comparing a Broadway legend to Regine??? You've got to be kidding!!! This On My Own performance is iconic. It is the standard by which every other On My Own performance is judged.

janekerigan235 🤣🤣🤣 Regine is more expensive than Lea who even had an issue with a producer who failed to pay her 300K for a flop benefit concert because he needed to pay for the suppliers first 🤣🤣 300K? So cheap 😂😂😂😂 much less than the price of one of Regine's Hermes bag that Baby Nate would rub on the floor 😂😂😂 Regine's house on a hilltop of a first class subdivision with infinity fool and elevator and her sister/manager's mansion will tell who is earning more 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Regine's jewelries, shoes and bags collections will tell who is earning more too 🤣🤣🤣🤣 mommy V, a plain wife and mother, can even give a coaster worth many millions to Regine too. 🤣🤣🤣 So can you imagine how many millionaires Regine created in her family? 😂😂 Regine can give gifts like BMW and recording studio for his husband too 😂 Regine's copper seems to be unlimited with her spending habit and passion for bags and shoes 🤣🤣 haven't seen lea looking expensive 🤣🤣 do you have a list of their assets and liabilities to assume that Leas net worth is more than Regine? 🤣🤣🤣 You're so funny! 😂😂😂😂

+Abc Music Lea is worth more than regine. I don't care about Regines properties..lol..its the networth. Lea even if she doesn't work for a long time. She earns dollars and royalties of those records. You'd have to work so much harder and longer in the Philippines or anywhere in Asia to equal just few performances from here. Famewise. Lea is known here and many parts of the world where her music in Disney movie was shown and played. When you do a play or take on a role many of these people studied performing arts and there are different focus on that too. you don't just take on a role without knowing anything about the theater. Miss Saigon is a popular musical. If you think of the popular movies here in USA that has become iconic like Gone with the wind(lol you know that?)..titanic etc. people know the movie and they know who played them. Miss Saigon , no matter how many played it has Lea as the original which made her "The Miss Saigon' and because she won awards for best actress in that as well made her well known in the musical theater all over the world. Lea was in a soap here as well as tv movie. hallmark hall of fame special presentation where she was the lead. she guested in morning shows as well as late night shows. I am from here so I can tell right away..Everything I had said about Lea being well known here is true. No matter how successful Regine is . Even if she becomes this really unparalleled success in the Philippines (which isn't the case since there is Sarah Geronimo and others) but even if that's the case. She never penetrated the USA Disney and Broadway which Lea did. and that is an international success story unparalleled by any other Filipino. That was the concert for the 10th Anniversary of Les Miserables held in the Royal Albert Hall. That's why there's an entire orchestra behind her. She was supposed to be in character even though there isn't an entire set. that's why she was stoic. She isn't even Lea there. It's Eponine. Fun fact: she is also the singing voice of Mulan and Princess Jasmine in the Disney movies. She is also the original Kim in Miss Saigon. She's a legend.

If you watch the entire concert she was simply following the format of the entire show. Also if you appreciate music of the Les Miserables that show is just worth watching because the cast was just great in this 10th Anniversary concert

Mockingjay143 I had the same thought. I remember seeing this a long time ago on CBS. They weren't acting out the story, just performing the songs in costume. I guess they didn't do their research to better understand the context of the performance. Also with musicals, it is ideal for performers to enunciate. They probably should have also researched how to say her name before critiquing. It sort of discredited some of their reaction. But hey... this is just a video! Popped up on my feed. As a fan of Les Mis, this particular song, and Lea... I'm always moved by her crisp performance. She nails the climax and all the key notes that make this such a powerful and relatable song.
@super_siri3 жыл бұрын
The thing about this song is that she's walking the streets of Paris to deliver a letter for her best friend Marius, and she's having a conversation with herself in her head. She knows she's in love with Marius who is in love with Cosette. And she's happy for him and devastated for herself. Her heart is broken. You can feel the heartbreak in the last four lines. She uses some really interesting breathing techniques to portray emotion without losing her diction or vocal tone. This is the quintessential performance for this song. You're nuts thinking she wasn't emotional. In theater the majority of the audience can't see your face so you're going to show emotion really only through your voice. I hope you'll listen to it again sometime with your eyes closed and see what you think then.
@super_siri3 жыл бұрын
@@livieloubelle I actually really like the concert format. The show goes faster but the performances are amazing. The whole 10th anniversary concert is just full of the best performances of the songs in this show one right after the other. Well except maybe I dreamed a dreamed from the 25th anniversary special where lea salonga plays fantine. I like both Ruthie and Lea's performances for different reasons.

i agree with you all. i believe this guy has to do more immersive research rather than just commenting offhandedly without knowing the context of the entire situation. ..because it just shows his and his partner's ignorance. Dude, Lea and Regine are NOT even on the same level of expertise. Regine is doing pop music not musicals. And those two music genres employ different techniques and dynamics. But then, i can't blame you if you prefer commercial performance over theatrical artistry.
@arisart228 жыл бұрын
That's the problem with Lea sometimes. She makes singing look easy that we tend to underappreciate her performance. On my own is a difficult song to sing and she sang it like nothing. The performance was arguably the best "on my own" performance in le mis history. Thanks for reacting!

This is the most HURTFUL reaction I've ever listened to from you guys, let alone the comparison battle with Regine which is way too different in context and genre. The Piece of Sky that Regine covered is specially arranged for Barbra Streisand to show case her extended belting ability in broadway which somehow favored the belting range of Regine. On My Own is not like that. This is arranged in a mellow, naive and desperate tone from a fragile young girl who experienced falling in and out of love for the first time. First dislike.

Someone with unbiased ears and doesn't know both Lea and Regine would know that 😂😂😂 in fact, Ovela just mirrored the impression of some foreign music executives in the 90s that she could sing Broadway songs like Lea or be an understudy of Barbra Streisand. In fact, Regine got the title Asias Songbird because she was being compared to Streisand (US' Songbird) back then who successfully created a market for musicals/Broadway songs for commercial releases (films and albums).

With all due respect. I understand the fact that you were just reacting to what was in front of you. But if you are going to choose to react to a video that is Broadway/Musical related, wouldn't it have helped if you did a little bit more research on that particular genre, or the artist for that matter before reacting to it/her? In my opinion, if your knowledge on a particular subject is limited, then I believe that you would not understand its representation, or what it's all about until you've learned what it truly is and what it comes with. For example, I am not a Star Wars fan at all. But I am aware that pretty much the whole world is obsessed with it, but I can't just say that I'm going to watch them all one day just to see what everyone is so obsessed with if I have very limited knowledge of its background, representation, or if its genre just isn't cup of tea. I would have to do an intense amount of research before I could develop an understanding towards the Star Wars universe and its representation and background in order to give a legit feedback on it, because no matter how many times I watch the series over and over, I will never understand people's obsession with it If I lack knowledge of what it represents, or if sci-fi/fantasy just isn't my thing. But I would also NOT compare it to a romantic comedy (like you did with Lea and Regine) and look for a deep romantic story between its characters, when it's supposed to be centered on something that is NOT an in-depth romantic story. Point is, Lea is for Broadway musicals, and Regine is for Pop. In order for you to understand why Lea's performance is what it is, you would have to learn what a Broadway musical concert is and what it represents, otherwise, your feedback on her performance will not be legit or relevant. I understand why so many of her fans are displeased with your feedback, as I have known and loved Lea since I was 6 years old (30 now), and she is a living goddess and legend in my eyes and in my heart, just check out how much of her videos I've posted on my channel. But that being said, the insults and mean-spirited comments towards you is totally unnecessary, so I will apologize to you on behalf of my fellow Lea-worshipers. We know her better, and what she is capable of, but there is no need for anyone to be disrespectful, so please excuse them for their attitudes. Knowing Lea and worshiping her the way I do, I know for a fact that she would not be happy with her fans behavior in this comment section.

Funny that you guys say that Lea Salonga doesn't "act" enough or find her performance inferior than Regine's. Lea is the biggest musical theatre artist in the Philippines. In 1988 when the people behind the West End musical in London "Miss Saigon" was casting the Asian lead actress, they did tried to find an actress in London, but they can't find one. They went to the US and did auditions in New York, Los Angeles, and even Hawaii (because of the large Asian community obviously) they still can't find one. However, they did noticed that most of the more outstanding girls trace their country of origin from guess what, the Philippines. So off they went to Asia, but they did went first to the more famous cities like Hong Kong and Singapore and true enough the more outstanding talents they found there were also from the Philippines. Hence finally they went to Manila, Philippines! And of course their search ended there because they found not only one but two girls who will do the lead role of Kim in "Miss Saigon" . They signed up Lea Salonga and Monique Wilson (alternate) who were both only 17 years old that time. The Miss Saigon people was so impressed with the vast talent they found in Manila that they decided to get and hire most of the other Asian and ensemble roles from Manila. Lea Salonga went on to play the lead role in West End, London and even won the prestigious Laurence Olivier award for best actress award. When the Miss Saigon producers decided to bring Miss Saigon in Broadway they decided to have Lea to do the lead actress and again she won all the awards including the prestigious Tony award. While doing Miss Saigon in Broadway Lea was asked by Disney to do the singing voice of Princess Jasmine in the musical animation movie "Aladdin" were she sang the famous duet song "A Whole New World". Later on Disney also asked her to do the singing voice for the lead role of yet another musical animation "Milan" Cameron Macintosh was so impressed with Lea's talent that he asked her to do the role of Eponine in Les Miserables, making her the first non white to the role. Hence, in the video that you critiqued she was asked to sing Eponine's "On My Own" during the 10th year anniversary of Les Miserables in London. Later on she was once again asked to do the role of another Les Miserables character "Fantine" the role that won Anne Hathaway her first Oscar for the movie adaptation. Lea Salonga was also asked to do the role of "Fantine" and perform in the 25th anniversary of Miss Saigon in London. Lea and Regine are almost of same age and they are both famous here in the Philippines. Philippines continues to be under the radar as far as Hollywood is concerned. But we do claim some sort of pride for the success of Enrique Iglesias because his mom is Filipino and Bruno Mars also because his mom is Filipino. Btw, I am a big fan of you guys.

Their impressions and feedback on Lea's performance here is out of context. It isn't moving enough?! Seriously? They react here more as if they want to replace the director of the play. Lea is not just a singer here. She's more of an actress here. She did what she was told thus making it impossible to bring more dynamic to the performance. But hell, it's no less moving. These two reacted with a "concert performance" in mind and that obviously made their thoughts misleading. Personally (or perhaps on behalf of the majority), Lea's performance here is AWEmazing, no kidding. Her crystal clear voice and emotions put on the song made this performance so stunning. And in plays, the actor has to compliment her performance to the orchestra and vice versa, and Lea did it perfectly! That's all I can say.

People likes to see singers who sing high notes (shouting) more than those who actually reach the notes and still calm with clear lyrics. Most of the singers who sing high notes... you can feel like the pain as if u are singing and u can actually feel like their about to burst the veins in their throat. But i prefer lea's style. she sings as if it's not hard and the atmosphere it creates is calm. But people have different preference.

janekerigan235 Whitney is certified hitmaker and can do a lot with her voice. She has inspired many singers during her prime. Lea doesn't enjoy the same stardom Whitney has achieved. She can't even sing a decent Whitney 😂😂😂 Unlike lea, Regine is a certified hitmaker too and Has inspired a lot of singers until NOW 😂😂😂 like Whitney Her songs and her style of singing became standard in singing contest and videoke sessions 😂😂😂 Lea doesn't have that kind of impact! Regine and Whitney became legit divas in their CHOSEN markets. They have many signature songs, enjoys industry respect, they're known and a household name from generations to another generations. People can relate to them, use them as reference because they have distinct qualities and they made a mark in their lives. Like when it's raining, it's being blamed on Regine because of her song tuwing umuulan. When there's a great contestant people will say "Wow she can sing like Regine Velasquez." Or a student saying "I hope my grades are higher than Regine Velasquez's voice. 🤣🤣 Belting became synonymous to Regine too thus the phrase "Naks, Rumeregine" 😂😂 there's no such thing as a "lumelea". You say wow pangdisney ang boses. But never wow lumelea. 😂😂😂 Whitney is Whitney not just because she is having some breaks in US like Lea. She became Whitney because she has a distinct sound, she's a hitmaker, she became a standard for singers, she has a story which she communicated well through her songs and became theme songs of our lives. Regine has all these qualities. Lea has NONE. Prove me wrong 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Your reaction hurts me. Why compare her to Regine? I'm not saying Regine is not good, but they are way too different when it comes to style. Lea has high notes, yes, but she's never been a belter. The thing with her mouth is part of the theater training. Plus this is the 10th anniversary performance, more like a concert, not the actual play, that's why she's not moving too much.

janekerigan235 dare boast of theater technicalities? 😂😂😂 surely there are lot others who can do better and Can do more interesting and challenging roles. You are just under the delusion that because she's the only Filipino who has those two rusty trophies it also follows that she is somewhat big there! If lea is really BIG THERE she will not waste time working in PH because she will continuously have a JOB and there will be lucrative offers here and there. But as of now, LEA IS NEITHER HERE NOR THERE, no signature songs that can be convincingly attributed to her, no superstar status, no artistic identity. Two trophies are not enough to support your arrogance and delusion 🙄😂
@janekerigan2358 жыл бұрын
Abc Music even one trophy is enough for a lifetime. . Regine didnt get any of those and lea did it internationally. .You, who probably had no memory of leas success here becsuse you are Not from here. She is still well known..Regine who? li didnt even know shes still aroud until i saw her in KZbin. .i only know of Sarah and the other more famous singers in the present.. BOTH Regine and Lea had their heyday. they still work..but their heydays are done..But when theyre famous. yes regine was pretty famous back then but mostly locally. But lea was catapulted to success here in USA..She became well known. because she was also guesting in morning shows here and talkshows. Because she was a talented singer she was offered to sing for Disney. .And they are very particular when it comes to voices in disney..you have to have a beautiful and expressive voice. So say an elderly actress from the 50s won best actress award. You would call it rusty and not defining success? wow. But lea wasnt a one stint person. The reason you keep saying that is because you live in the philippines and dont know whats happening in usa..lol..

Lea and Regine are both so gooood. Unfortunately, these two trolls compared two different singers who sing different genres. You cant just say Regine's far more moving than Lea because Regine's into belting and Lea's into Theatre and Classics. I thought you were professional reactors. I'm not gonna watch your videos again. 👎
@avhotaistudios12068 жыл бұрын
While Regine is totally the real deal, I hate to say this, but she's not as good as Lea. Just based on this performance, Lea was perfect. And I'm not overexaggerating, she did not miss a note, a single one. I guess the problem with why people dig Regine more is because what matters to people are high notes and showstopping moments. That's the difference between pop and theater. Well... each to their own

well the story is about a girl thinking of an imaginary boyfriend (that's why she seems like she's thinking all the time). *FYI for the Ignorant People* - Miss Saigon producers traveled several cities around the world 'til it finally reached the Philippines & found Lea Salonga & other 14 filipinos to cast the show. - Lea Salonga became the 1st asian to win Grandslam Best Actress for a single role in Miss Saigon. By winning Drama Desk Award Best Actress, she sets the bar higher than any female actress in both Broadway & London West End as the only actress to win all Grandslam. Miss Saigon set a world-record for biggest opening - Lea Salonga was the singing voice of 3 Disney movies, Mulan 1 & Mulan 2 and Aladdin. She has performed in Oscar Awards and also won Best in Theme Song, "A Whole New World" - Lea Salonga is the 1st non-caucasian actress to portray the role of Eponine in the 10th Anniversary Concert of Les Miserables. - Lea Salonga is also the 1st Broadway actress to perform both role Eponine and Fantine. - Lea Salonga also appeared as Fantine in the 25th Anniversary of Les Miserables So who you two couple of unknown again to make uneducated reaction about the LEGENDARY MISS LEA SALONGA??????

It was more about the character's anger when she was young. When she sings it now she show's more of the character's vulnerability. M-Angel and Ovela is reacting to a broadway Singer. Please , you have to understand this a different kind of singer. Lea is her own league, like many other famous broadway stars. Lea conquered Disney and first and only Filipino Singer ever stepped and accepted a Tony Award back 1991. That performance was absolutely to die for, she was almost perfect. Clarity, diction, pitch, less is more, she delivered her character while stood there without moving much! I cant believe you didnt see that. mmm some would try hand gestures etc. Lea and her voice and that look did all of it alone. Thats your opinion guys. But, clearly, you are not Musical Theatre Critics, broadway vocalist. Lea is in the league of Bernadette Peters, Audra Mcdonald. There is more to say about this performance. Her techniques, Lea is very very respected and claimed top Broadway Singer. This reaction, shows M-Angel And Ovela doesnt not understand Musical Theatre and perhaps the musical itself. (just my opinion) Lea played Eponine 10th Anniversary Concert of Les Mis. 15 years later played Fantine for the 25th Anniversary. I understand. You guys only found this good. That sad. But, this in fact work world's favourite of all time. Many study her work, her delivery of this song. Many new singers always get compared to how Lea delivered Eponine. God bless you both! Keep you videos reactions going and as a viewer, reactions also on your way. Ovela, absolutely love your ensemble. M-Angel that hair Perfect! Not so sure of the necklace but earings ooh gives me 80's love it. Great reactions shame not exposed enough of the Broadway World to much to see and learn darlings. Takes you back to the music of Roger's and Hammerstein. 😊

Thank you for reacting to Lea Salonga. Lea must have followed the directors instructions i guess, that is why she is very stoic. That is the character she have to portray. And this musical is a "Sing through's" (similar to opera) where only facial expressions are expressed to portray a certain character and not like the Musical drama which is the traditional kind, where the actors are more animated and have to act with various emotions while singing. If you have chosen the video of Miss Saigon where she might get your heart into her, she is more animated in there. For me Regine is better in reaching higher notes and with a humongous charisma. But with Lea, you will be fascinated with the discipline she imposed to herself and her technique is very broad. She can still sing well even if she is sick. She is almost never missed any note or go out of tune, a very consistent performer. She is a great stage actress which you cannot see in this kind of Musical (Les Miserables, a sing through's type of musical). that is why the movie is much better to watch. Both Regine and Lea are great singers with their own specialty. I wouldn't enjoy watching Regine in a Musical Drama and Lea having a concert singing Pop songs. Hahahahaha You cannot compare the two. It is very unfair for the two of them. Plus those two singers are both well loved by Filipinos. But never the less, you guys are spot on. I have high regards in your reactions. Very honest with your preferences. Keep up the good work and God Bless.

Why are you so irritated? I am just emphasizing their strengths and specialty. Lea can also sing Pop songs, right? Regine can do operatic songs, right? But which one would you prefer performing musical drama and which one would you prefer in concerts? You are the one giving malice to what i am saying. I am not belittling Regine, i also love listening to her, as much i love watching Lea in musicals. You should have read carefully to what i commented. Not a fair comment. A play is a play. Why was she just standing? She was just following what the director was telling her to do - stand, sing the song based on how it's arranged, and then act.

Pop vs Musical: definitely theres a big difference. In pop, you can belt it out til your lungs out. In musicals, there's still a level of connection as you a deliver a line through a song. Hitting the high notes is different. You cant whistle or do all the curling of voice in musicals unless needed. Lea and Regine are wonderful singers but in their own field. Comparing Lea to Regine is not like apple to apple. #thoughts #my2cents

LOL, this wasn`t the actual musical in itself but the anniversary concert where they just stand in front of the mike. This video didn`t even show the whole story of this moment (I was there). The orchestra was supposed to go on non-stop as the performers with parts go up front to the mike. But by the time Lea finished the song, there was a very long standing ovation. The orchestra didn`t know what to do (obviously unrehearsed moment) so they just stopped for a moment. Lea and the others were also told not to break character in between parts, but they didn`t expect those standing ovations. Lea had a standing ovation of more than 3 mins., so she had to awkwardly stand there in character and couldn't acknowlegde the audience (who was standing and loudly cheering calling her name). She was amazing here and so young.

you should do more research about the people/performances you're reacting to.
@xeanluxcrille68477 жыл бұрын
While it is true that Lea is by nature a technical singer who is strict and sticks to the score sheet (you should see how she coaches), this performance is a shackled one wherein she is required to do it with several rules. See her expression at the end? It was not because she was thinking she owned the performance. It was because she was in character--identifying herself with a miserable Eponine, with heartbreak, and with remorse through the song. Like I said, she is someone faithful to the score sheet. In her renditions, she does not showcase herself, she always wants to sing the songs as the composer/s intended with the amount of emotions she can feel from the notes themselves. In other words, she's not making herself simply emote as she sings, she does not make emotions affect the notes, rather it is backwards--she is making the song pull out emotions from her, she does it such that the song itself is affecting her emotions. It's kinda become like her principle. So however you think you heard the song is exactly how it is written in the score sheet and how she thinks the composer wanted to convey the feelings. As proof, you can rarely hear Lea adding on embellishments to her singing. Regine on the other hand is a diva who sings with her own emotions. She is an entertainer. It's not that Lea lacked in anything, she just sticks to her principle all the time. With Regine's singing, you hear the singer. With Lea's singing, you hear the song. Those are two different things each highly appreciated in their own right.
@Troilus158 жыл бұрын
Broadway is like (Acting + Singing + Live = HARD TO DO) LOL... Lea is in to her character that's why she is like that. She is not allowed to smile after the song because the show is not over. Well just a suggestion before you react to any other singers be sure you listened to all kinds of music (genre), in that way you can see and hear on how good a singer performed that song (whatever genre is that..). Lea owned the song! HAHA Before watching this reaction I already knew this will be the outcome, but still MGN rocks!!!

Music Game News Are you now happy that people of your channel (mostly the people who subscribed) are already divided and fighting over who is better than the other? it's a pity that you call those that are against your views HATERS. Lemme remind you that it is US who supported you when u only had hundreds of members. This is not about your freedom of speech and or how u reacted to Lea Salonga but the premise is how reckless you are to compare both artists WITHOUT doing a research on both artists background and musicality. Since most filipinos are subscribed to your channel, and most of your reactions are of Filipino content; you should have at least researched the artist before reacting to it. Sensitivity to one's culture is the key. And do not be blindsided that we are haters. In a personal note, i feel that u just pulled a video of Lea, played it and reacted to it without the sound mind that we still have a different culture. I am saddened by the fights and arguments of my other fellow men here. The song title is "On My Own". She was supposed to appear stoic in this performance. She was supposed to suffer in silence and no one had to learn about it meanwhile--is the premise of the story. The song speaks of an unrequited love; an all-consuming love for Marius who was obviously oblivious of the affection that Eponine (Lea's character) was bestowing upon him as he was enthralled by another woman, Cosette. In fact, the character (Eponine) even took a bullet literally for the man of her dreams, who until that moment still appeared clueless of the immense love she had for him. Of course, Lea had to show the bitter reality of life in that performance, in the best way she knew how. Before you watched and commented on this performance, she had been working with the Greats--William Nicholson, Alain Boublil, Claude-Michel Schönberg. She's a Tony Award winning actress. If she was good enough for them, she should be good enough for everyone who understands Broadway!

Walk where? What room on stage? That’s how it’s supposed to be Like, how can you judge how accurately she portrayed the story/message when you don’t even know it? Have you ever even seen a live stage musical before? When there’s a large cast, props and orchestra there’s really no room for a lot of moving of any? Plus, it’s more about the singing than acting. This is like, typical? It’s not trying to be different. How can you compare it to other things when you don’t even know any context? Plus, this is like classic literature and art. Like, there are so many more layers and heartbreak... why would you talk about things and judge things that you haven’t researched? Where’s your credibility? Like, your opinions are based on ignorance/lack of info and less respectable as result.

The reason she's not moving around on stage is bec it's the 10th anniversary special of Les Miz, all the actors just stand on the mic and sing their part of the play...I think she is the only one who got the chance played Eponine & Fantine (25th anniversary)...most of her concerts she always sing with a full orchestra...try to react on her concert videos😊, hope to see more of your reaction on her😉...thx
How could it be not moving enough? For me this is the best on my own version. Besides it was a concert not the actual play.

Let us remember Lea's background and training is Theatrical. She's an actress. She has very expressive eyes, lips and facial expressions needed in the theatre. Please don't assess her with the rest of pop musicalities. The proof that she's very good at her craft was when she win Best Actress in the Tony Awards in 1991.

Les Miserables pronounces as "Ley Miserab". Lea is the Queen of Broadway.

Also, Lea Salonga has technically a pure Broadway diva. unlike Regine but both of them are amazing

Here's the thing...this performance is at a Concert version of Les Miserbles, not an actual production of it. She has no set or props there to carry out the performance, all she can do to tell the story through the song. IMO Lea Salonga is one of the greatest of all time and it's time you educate yourselves on this version of the show because it is the GOAT

This wasnt the actual Les Miz Musical. I think this was the Les Miz 25th anniversary concert. Sort of like a preview of the actual play. All the actors just sang their parts standing in front of a mic. Search the other performances in that same concert. Jean Valjean, Fantine, Enjolras, Marius, etc. They all did the same. Just standing there "stoically".

Looks like fans were pissed with your reaction. Haha. Guys! they're just 2 out of 7B people on earth. The fact you guys requested it, you must accept that it's going to be either a thumbs up or the other way around. This is just a single video, opinions do changes. And both Regine and Lea are amazing. Well, u can't blame them to compare both, as they reacted to Regines musical performances. God Bless u all! 😇

Lea is also the singing voice of disney Princess Jasmine and Mulan. She is also the original Kim on Miss Saigon. You need to broaden your musical theatre horizons guys :)

Ovela, don't you ever put Regines name before Lea Salonga that's so disrespectful...
@bulletyeoja8 жыл бұрын
This isn't the actual full theatrical performance, so she is just standing there. Look at the other actors all sitting behind her and the stage is not set for the actual play.

why are you comparing broadway performer to regine? did you see miss saigon?
@Weekendinspirations7 жыл бұрын
3:10 She kinda look like she's thinking a lot because that's the character she's playing, as Eponine. Somehow I sense that you have not seen the stageplay (not the movie) yet at the time you reviewed that performance.

Unfortunately, you don't know how to distinguish classic singing from belting. This is biasing. Damn it!

You guys do not have any idea when it comes to theater acting. This isnt just singing, she is acting.

M. ANGEL PLS FIX YOUR FACE WHEN WATCHING LEA. YOU SHOULD HAVE MORE REVERENCE FOR THE LEA

You don't want to belt the climax of the song when you sing this song 8 times a week. That was a technique she had to do to avoid what other Eponines experienced and that's losing their voice after 3 or 4 shows doing the musical play. That technique is called HEAD-MIX! And her technique is musically Healthy. Look at Mariah carey, for so long her singing style was so unhealthy that now that she is over 40 she could not even sing her old songs the way she used to. Not to mention Adele, Celine Dion and so many more singers went through throat surgery because of years of unhealthy singing. Look up Whitney's recent concert performances before she passed away (May her Soul Rest In peace) where the audience walked out because she could not even sing her own songs anymore. But look at Lea. When she was casted as Eponine she was only at her early 20s. And now she is 50, and when she sings this song now she can still sing the same way like she did 25 more years ago and even better. Try to look it up. Now that's healthy and musically correct textbook way of singing. And again, especially when you sing this song 8x a week and not just this song, but a whole musical play where your character sings not just one, not even twice, but more so consistently all throughout the play. Again, 8x a week. Educate yourself!
