Our prayers are with Papa Curt! Cale, I have to think that he's very proud of you as you farm. You're raising a fantastic family who, whether or not they will be farmers themselves, are learning to do their best and having fun doing it. And, whether you're farming or in some occupation far removed, challenges and problems come up every day (I know they do for me.) It's how we respond to those challenges and problems that show who we are.

Operating a farm is much like working for the forest service: you spend your days stamping out fires all over the place. Adapt, Adjust, Overcome, Compensate. Thanks for documenting all the stuff that goes into farming. Most of us, unfortunately, think all you do is kick a hole in the ground and drop in a seed. Wait awhile, then collect the money.

We started dragging chain under the combine in the late 70s. I did it under the John Deere 9600 combines in the 90s with perfect results. The most recent KZbin video person to try it very successfully, was Haydon on Harvest. It cleared the dust off their combines on Harvest crew almost immediately

This year & 1 row last year, i ran the gathering chains backwards. I bought all new ones last winter. I 1 came off at the start of last years harvest, & i never found it back. Worked great. I have no head loss. I'm hoping they will carring in shell corn from the deck plates. The Klug way / backwards i said to my 1st cousin.

Three words to fix your Corn Head issue, Calmer Corn Heads. He's on U-Tubes, and they work, period.
@richardlug6139
@richardlug6139 Жыл бұрын
Until the parts wear just like on his head. He fixed his issue. Things wear with use a guy just has to diagnose the issue and fix it like he did. The belt issue is what would be aggravating to me since it is not just his machine, but multiple machines in the same area having the same issue must be a much of Chinese belts would be my guess.
@thebegrsshow
@thebegrsshow Жыл бұрын
@@richardlug6139 Well he said he'd been through 4 heads already, I'm sure he would have figured out what normal wear parts were necessary prior to the 3rd or 4th. If you've ever run a Calmer Head, or seen one in action you'd know how much better they work. The crop residue issue alone puts them way ahead of anything else, and the ground speed increase can make one heck of a difference when there's bad weather bearing down on you. Calmer also makes retrofit kits for any manufacturers heads so you don't have to buy the entire head.

0:36 Pay for "on call" status, if the employer controls where the employee goes during "on call" time, they have to be paid. If the employee receives so many calls for service that even tho the employee isn't actually "restricted" except the number of calls for service that it prevents the employee from engaging in personal activities, they have to be paid for their entire on call shift whether they actually work the whole time or not. Then you have the state laws...for example, in California, an employee has to be paid for time used to find out if he/she has work, even over the phone, if required to call in. The reasoning was that it substantially burdens an employee. For example, if I'm "on call" I may have to make last minute arrangements for child care, I may be unable to work a second job, I may not be able to enjoy personal activites, etc. My opinion is that it should be a policy that if the "on call" status interferes with the employees ability to work a second job or engage in personal activities, it should be paid time. Of course, some companies might not like having to "pay people to do nothing"...then they need to eliminate the "on call" status...so if they call, the employee can say "I'm busy tonight" without having to worry about not having a job tomorrow.

About cancer: I had brain cancer several years ago and was in REALLY bad shape from it. But, I beat it! That's why I'm farming now. :) Sadly, I lost a VERY dear friend to breast cancer, my dad to prostate cancer and my mum to ovarian cancer. My mum was quick...she always said that she didn't want to linger and be a burden to her kids. She didn't and she wasn't. I kid you not...she was diagnosed with cancer in the afternoon and she was Assuming room temperature less than 12 HOURS later!!!!!

@@BNO-4333 Why do emergency vehicles have chains underneath? Two reasons. One, it grounds the vehicle and discharges static, which is important in emergency vehicles where there are lots of radios and/or flammable stuff. Second, the heavy chains knock down/break up light brush or other obstacles on the road.
