Shame that I can't have a go. I would love to try. Should have learnt when I was in the UK. Like any form of welding. Even if you know the basics. You need to practice to get that muscle memory. Have you done tig welding. One would think you could be pretty good at it. Plus you must be able to do braising style welding too with that set up on steel sheet etc.

Hi, to be honest I’ve never used propane. I always use acetylene. Just the way I was taught. My advice with the torch is to make sure it’s a genuine model o torch. And not a replica. You can really tell the difference. The flame seems to creep on the replicas. And I use a number 3 nozzle.

I personally definitely wouldn’t recommend it. Especially as a beginner. They are quite hard to use. If you want to go down that route make sure the kit is fitted with an original model o torch. Thank you. You can get oxy propane kits but In my experience they are harder to use. If you do go down this route make sure the kit comes with a model o torch or you’ll struggle even more. If your really serious about lead welding it would be better to get a oxy actylene kit. It will be easier to use and cheaper in the long run. And when your in a tight spot trying to weld a vertical you’ll thank me lol.

Nice. I've got the little jet nozzles. With the little holes around the edge. Its a model o torch. But I cannot stop burning holes through the lead.
