Where does he think all these new doctors are coming from? It takes 5 years to train even a junior doctor and 10 years for a Consultant or GP. Or will he let all those 'doctors/carers/nurses' continue to come here illegally and grant them British citizenship to stay even if they are lying and are not what they claim? We are losing doctors because in terms of the 10 years and the cost to train and practise (around £10,000 a year for liability insurance and regustration from their salary) plus the loan they run up before earning anything, the salaries of juniir and most doctors is less than many computer workers on 6 figure salaries after 3 years, train drivers after 14 weeks' training and administrators with no responsibility and yet they are making life/ death decisions every day and if they get it wrong, their career is over. Other countries recognise the stress of such responsibility, the years/ cost of training and not only pay more but have set hours so doctors have a work/ life balance. Same applies to paramedics who, unlike most people including train drivers, get no extra for working weekends, Christmas etc, or are on call.

While I agree with your overall sentiment. Just a point of clarification it takes on average a year and a half to train a train driver and many 1000s fail even the aptitude tests to try. Were also not on six figures. The media often pits striking workers against each other (particularly rail workers and NHS) but both are skilled jobs that can't really be compared.
