Handing off the ministry you’ve built over the course of several decades is an extremely difficult thing. It’s difficult for the founder, it’s difficult for the church, and it’s difficult for the successor. However, in 2017, Pastor Willie George handed the baton off to his son, Whit, to usher in a new season for Church On The Move.
Discussion Questions:
1. Is there something you're leading that you should start preparing to hand off? If so, how do you feel about the idea of releasing control and ownership?
2. Have you ever served under a leader that seemed to overstay his or her tenure? What were the effects of that?
3. Do you have other hobbies, projects, or dreams outside of your current leadership role? How has that helped you to have a healthy detachment from your role and keep your identity grounded? If not, what can you start doing to expand your interests?
