In my opinion i think with the death of Iwata and Reggie left from Office. The lighthearted humorous Part of Nintendo during the end of the 2000s and early 2010s goes along with them. I mean nearly everyone liked them. The Shows were more personal with younger Fans in mind. They setup legendary moments memes and presentations of their products. I mean:" My Body is ready", that super smash bros mii introduction Trailer featuring a battle between reggie and iwata, the 3ds presentation that Starfox presentation from 2015 in were Jim Henson Puppets were used, Robo reggie. These are moments you will never forget as an Nintendo fan. He always had a heart for the Fans. Heck even Miyamoto himself joined in these. Today he is rarely or nearly never to be seen anymore in public. Sure the Wii u era was a massive flop and Wii pushed away a lot of Hardcore Gamers but they atleast try to make something special out of their games presentations. I always looked forward to their E3 Shows back in the days. After Reggie Nintendo become more serious focusing more on their games rather then Persons. I admit the Wii u era dissapointed me but with Switch everything become waaay better. Thats the other side of the game. My name is Reggie. I'm about kicking ass, I'm about takin' names. And we're about making games." Reggie 2004

I never thought about how unusual it was for a black man to be running a japanese company, considering how racist japan can be. Reggie really is an amazing man.
@Itsukazutrap2 жыл бұрын
I always see people saying Japan is racist. Yet I went there as a non white, non asian, and still I never saw any racism, except towards Chinese (but mostly because they are some of the worst kind of tourists), Korean GOVERNMENT (because obvious historical causes), and Americans (if you are white, in the taxi they'll consider you American, and won't like you. If you speak another language than English, they'll think and consider you aren't American, starting asking you questions and liking you if you are anything but American)... I don't see how they are racist. Yes, they have really strict rules about nationality, because there, being Japanese is more than just a paper, it's really about a feeling of unity, something in the heart, an attachment to the country. But I don't see it as racist, just... Patriotic
@yonaka97982 жыл бұрын
@@Itsukazutrap Experiencing Japan as a mere tourist has *nothing* to do with actual Japan lmao. We're talking about their business structures. Business in Japan is very conservative.
@Itsukazutrap2 жыл бұрын
@@yonaka9798 even living there, there isn't racism towards most people. You just have to follow their rules, and that's it. I could get in a Japanese company without any problem, as I am currently learning Japanese in college, so I have connections. I would be the one wanting to quit not because of racism, but because the rules are hard to follow. They are the same for everyone. Most businesses don't reject foreigners, but just think that there are cultural things that would be too complicated to explain to others. There is no bad intent, and it's not due to racism, but instead the difference in cultures. Also, alot of Japanese people aren't good at English, so they tend to refuse strangers because they don't have anyone to explain them anything. It's missinterpreted as racism, but it really isn't. As long as you are not Chinese, American, or working with Korea's government, they don't care. Black people? They consider every black people as black American, as it's the most common kind of black people (the ones with enough money to go there). So they'll see you as an American, and that's what they don't like. They also don't like muslims because of the local culture, the bielief in yokai, and thus don't really like cemetaries near cities. And Muslim tend to want to get burried close to large cities to avoid going far from home, meanwhile Christians are pretty chill and don't mind the distance, nor being cremated.

He needed to push a lot harder for Anthony Higgs. Personally, I identify as "mixed", but when I saw a black man in one of my favorite Nintendo franchises getting decent screen time with a relatively cool role, I was very excited! That character should have been Samus' love interest, appeared in more Metroid games, and gotten his own spin-off series. Other M might be panned, but Anthony received a favorable response and he's is a gem that shouldn't have been thrown away. He's essentially Nintendo's only major Black character off the top of my head, or at least one of the very few...there might be someone in F-Zero I don't know about because I don't play those games. And I think there might be a black girl in Pokemon these days. I dunno' for sure as I stopped following that with Ruby and Sapphire.

Anthony was cool, but a love interest for Samus?... Nah. If he appeared if Federation Force, Samus Returns, and possibly future games, that would be cool tho.

I don't think Reggie had anything to do with ground level decision making in terms of game development, writing, or other such matters. Nintendo of America is basically a glorified marketing department for Nintendo of Japan. I also had to think for a minute to remember who Anthony Higgs was, ironic considering he's the "remember me" guy. But yeah more Anthony Higgs please, he's the best thing to come out of Other M and a great foil to the stoic Samus. And Nintendo isn't a good source of representation for black people, but if you're looking for more black Nintendo characters, there are indeed several black F-Zero racers, at least one black Pokémon gym leader, there's a black character in Arms, and uhh... Little Mac's trainer from Punch-Out, and I think three or four side characters in Twilight Princess were black? Oh yeah, Telma from that game was totally based on Queen Latifah, like 100%
@Cri_Jackal2 жыл бұрын
I like Anthony too, but uhh, he has some _really_ creepy lines in Other M that everyone seems to forget about. Besides that, he should stay Samus's friend if he ever shows up again, Samus does not need a love interest, she needs people she can consider family.

He was a singular personality, and did some good for Nintendo. He honestly came along after Nintendo's golden age (80s/90s). While I liked games on GBA/GC/DS/Wii, it definitely felt like a gradual downhill period. BUT, I don't think he had a whole lot to do with that. I think with the exception of signing off on the atrocious NA marketing for Wii U, and it's general abysmal sales and needing (a lot) more software, he was good for Nintendo. Good for fans. "a stereotype about being the angry aggressive black man" Meanwhile Regi looks snugglable AF. Even if we still don't have mother 3.

he isn't not wholly black, it is more accurate to say leading Nintendo as a mixed race man

Yes. And given how race has worked for the entirety of the history of the concept in every nation who has had such a concept, he is non-white. He is some form of black person in the eyes of his family’s homeland and his birthplace. Why do you people always try to change up the rules whenever they stop benefiting you?…hundreds of years, just a drop of black blood was enough to bar you from the “club”, but now we have a successful person, who overcame odds and your dumb rules, now he isn’t black enough. Get over yourself.
