I just started interning at a grooming salon recently so this has been helpful with my training. 🤗

I've had a system for drying for over 30 years now. I'm a pet groomer and am an owner handler. I have found that my high velocity dryer is not good on my Cesky Terrier. His coat doesn't dry the way it should, in my opinion. Now, my Wheaten Terrier is another story. He looks so much better with the high velocity dryer. I'm still trying to perfect the stylizing with both my boys. I've had my Wheaten 2.5 years and showed him only one weekend to finish his championship. My Cesky I've had 4 months and he starts his show career next month. Grooming is one thing I can never give up- it's a part of me.😊

Thank you. My dogs spend a lot more time on the table now after watching your prior drying rant, and the results are so much better. Especially the Standards

Thank you so much. This is very helpful. Getting my standard poodle hair dry takes time, even with a high velocity dryer. Good to know using system will help the process.

What are the best brushes to brush out during blow drying a poodle in your opinion?

I love your videos, i learn so much! I ll show my English Setter this summer and I am struggling with the toweling. Once the towel on the dog, do you wait until his jacket is completely dry before removing it? I would like a quick video with toweling tips! Merci

Whatever you do, don’t rub with the towel. Just use it to get the water out of the coat by squeezing it gently. I blast them in the tub to remove some of the water, then use the towels to get them to where they are not dripping, and then go straight to the table to dry. If you let them lay down for a few minutes a lot of times you’ll be fighting flips on their top line, or problems with their feathering on their chest and stomach. Really important areas for your breed. If you have some place clean to walk them, then do that so that they can shake more water out. Better thing to do is give them a “shake” command in the tub. Talk to the people in your breed, or Irish Setter people, about what they do to prepare. English Setters require a lot of small details to be competitive.

Correct ways to hold a small dog that doesn’t tolerate face drying. I just started working at a dog gooming shop and the owner wants the drying process to be faster . I’m having trouble holding onto the dog to get face dry. She says I’m letting dog seeing my fear . How do I be firm but gentle to get the dog dry? Usually the dog is all over the place can’t control the dog.

I e never had a dog who tolerated a dryer well, if at all. They bark at me, whine/cry and try to bite the dryer. I let my Sheltie shake off most the water, then I use a towel. At that point I just use her moist coat as the means to brush her. My girl isn’t a show dog. In the winter I’ll put a space heater nearby to help her dry off. I don’t like fighting her with the dryer. It’s stressful enough for us both, just to brush her. 😜

Do you think that using a human hair dryer will work for a double coated dog, or not? If no, what affordable pet dryer do you recommend? Thanks
