Good to have some deck level light, because on totally black night it is hard to tell where boat is with just mast light

Yeah it definitely can be if they blend in with the town/city in the background. We do have a deck light lower down but barely ever use it To be honest, I think it would be quiet bright shining into our cabin

I don't know which one of you was flying the drone, but you gave a great tour of your location! Spectacular!!! Good to see you sailing along the coast, instead of motoring as so many "sailing" channels do.😝 THAT area is SO interesting. It has character? It'd be great, if sometime, when you make it back to OZ, you could head up to the Solomon Island area, maybe the Marshall's. It's so beautiful there. Just a thought. Jason's like me, haha, a "Jack of all Trades". Knows just enough to get in trouble!😝That sucks, that they screwed you over on the LED!😠 But THAT, Janae, is ONE person. You already have discovered that MOST people are GOOD, right....right! But ya DO need the WHITE LED. Much more visable. Thanks!

Haha yeah we’ve been doing loads of sailing as we’re getting more experienced, now we even sail right off anchor and sometimes on Aswell, good practise and of course with fuel prices at an all time high it’s much more budget friendly 😅 The Ionian islands are beautiful! Completely different to the rest of Greece, super green and lush for Greece We would LOVE to do the Solomon Islands 😍 all of those islands would definitely be on the cards if we made it back that way 👌🏻 Cheers, thanks for your comment ☺️

Never climb the mast with only 1 rope. When it breaks you fall. Always use also a second backup line. Just to be save. Like your videos a lot.

When overtaking another vessel, the Overtaking Vessel is always the Give Way Vessel. The Vessel being overtaken has Right of Way / Is the Stand On Vessel in a scenario where you are approaching from beam to stern you are Overtaking, not Intersecting. I have seen you make these we have the right of way just because we have sails up claim several times now. I think you should take a refresher on Maritime Navigation Rules. That vessel would only have had to yield to you if you were on a close to 90 degree crossing back to a head on situation. Countries and local regions may also have different rules for places like Inland Waterways, Cuts, Narrow Passages, and Harbors/Marinas/Anchorages. I really enjoy your content and don't want to see you in another dangerous situation unnecessarily. To add to that you should always air on the side of caution and be prepared to protect your home in the case other boaters do not do what you expect of them. Many boaters in some parts of the world have never taken a course, or read anything at all, and do not follow regulations.

Hey Redwon! Yes we definitely know that rule that’s an easy one 😆 we’re always checking the rules online as it’s just a matter of trying to learn them off by heart, we hadn’t a lot of practise with loads of boats close by however now a couple of months down the track in real time today, we’ve had loads of practise as we’ve been in Croatia through charter season. Definitely have to agree with you there with people not necessarily following or knowing the rules So you’re saying a sailboat with no sails up that is motoring doesn’t always have to give way to us? It was coming across the front of our bow We have been putting in play the rules being if you’re both a sailboat and sailing: if you’re both on the same tack, whoever it’s sailing closer to the wind had to give way and if you’re both of different tacks then port tack gives way to starboard tack Thanks for your help 😆☺️ cheers

@@LeadingtheEscapade if it was coming across the front of your bow in a direct intersect course than in most situations yes you would be stand on/right of way vessel and they should give way, but if you are approaching from a position they would consider astern of them, therefore overtaking them, they would be stand on. Angles and closure in videos are very hard to guage just like depth, swell and wave length. In overtaking from astern and in head on meeting scenarios you are technically supposed to blast your horn signalling which side you intend to pass them on or "leave them to, 1 short blast for Port, 2 short blasts for Starboard, and the other vessel should confirm they understand and will do the same by returning the same response. Most sailor's appreciate it if you take wind angles into account, but by most coastguard regs you are still supposed to signal your intentions. This works a good majority of the time in countries that require a boating certificate, or are heavily policed on the waterways, but isn't always followed or even known. I try and calling out on my VHF first when Language isn't an issue. But obviously it could be tough to communicate where you are in the Balkans, and like 20+ different languages are spoken in a small region. My second resort when I can't confirm with radio is to immediately resort to horn blast signalling well in advance, so I have time to issue 2 or 3 separate directional blasts then emergency blasts while I alter course to try and cut across to pass across their stern wake and avoid an accident. If I feel I am stand on I issue my 5 blast warning signal plenty early and repeat that several times if closing speed warrants it. Sometimes they alter course or speed. They usually at least notice and start paying closer attention to you. If I still do not have their attention or response I play it safe and change my course, and if safe spill some wind to play it extra safe and avoid pressing a bad situation. At the end of the day you can only do so much, & there are sometimes local rules that conflict with international guidelines, so I always air on the side of caution. It has cut my stress levels immensely from when I like you just expected everyone to know and follow the rules, and be cautious. I learned early. I learned to sail on what are extremely narrow lakes compared to Ocean Sailing. They were loaded with Jet skis, Jon boats and high speed bass boats, and those smaller high speed Jet boats under 15 feet that sometimes don't even have a horn. They frequently do the unexpected and cut across your bow, and your stern, and from every angle, paying zero attention to flags, signals, lines, or even diver down flags. It's like they lose all inhibition and feel invincible playing chicken to see how close that can pass by the big heavy boat that can't stop quickly without dying. So I learned to be on my toes with my head on a swivel when boating early. I just want you guys to be safe. Using caution especially a when you are sailing your home is much easier than trying to argue who was at fault with law enforcement, insurance companies, and potentially a court of law in a foreign country that may or may not be less fair than you are used to in Australia, and protect a local over a foreigner. I love your content keep up the good work. I'd love to see some more on land exploring of the towns and cities you visit like shops, food, culture, music, festivals, and the natural beauty like mountains, water falls, hiking trails etc.

@@LeadingtheEscapade Love the videos. One of my fave channels. Living my dream. A good rule of thumb for video editing is to normalize max audio peaks to -6. In adobe premiere it's easy to do with a right click on the music track.
