Hughie Thomasson was one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Saw the original lineup of the band about a year after first album released. It seemed effortless to him to do blistering runs with pristine clarity. I seriously miss this kind of music. Well done video my friend 👍👍

Dude…….you just made my entire life! I just realized this is the lick I’ve been looking for all my life. I’m gonna master this and never play the guitar again! After this lick there is nothing left to accomplish that I want. This video just put it all together for me. Everything I’ve been missing, everything I’ve spent 1000s of hours playing scales over and over and getting nowhere. Hating everything that comes out of my fingers. This was a revelation man! You lifted that 20! Wall of quitting because it gets boring. I literally have a purpose again and nothing left to prove to myself after I master this video. Thank you man! No joke, I’m not busting your balls or being a dick. I sincerely mean that! It was the outlaws, and your video! That’s the missing link for me. This is seriously a spiritual moment for me! Thanks man!

And just a side note I noticed. It’s just a super pimped up, Sweet Home Alabama. It’s my favorite guitar riff ever and now I know why. It’s just tossing in an F instead of a D and some fancier picking. Is that what they call chicken pickin’?

Fantastic breakdown of a song by the greatest southern rock bands ever. RIP Billy and Hughie. I think Billy wrote this song. I have most if not all their albums and play them often. I also play guitar and have struggled with these lead riffs so THANKYOU!

I always thought this intro sounded a little better slightly slower not as slow as teaching mode of course but when you slow the tempo down a bit those licks really shine better, Great tutorial I enjoyed it nice playing

Nice breakdown! Just saw them open last night for Skynyrd and ZZTop. They were really good, even the 20 minute guitar solo during green grass and high !! Guess they were trying to beat the Freebird solo.

No doubt Hughie was a underrated guitar slinger and a true master of a stratocaster good lesson

He was so good..stood 4 feet from him at 3rd show on the reunion...he was lightning quick, never missed, and rarely even looked at the fretboard...his eyes closed, or fluttered..He was just a natural...
@garylamb76884 жыл бұрын
As a picker he inspired me and I would say he was maybe the best that’s ever been

Definitely in my top 5- criminally underappreciated..He was 1/2 Roy Buchanan, 1/2 Jimi Hendrix..could play it pretty & melodic, or downright filthy.
