In part 2 of the film, we pick up with Dan tackling Hope's Pass, the section where he succumbed to an injury, ultimately leading to a DNF the year prior. After overcoming the altitude sickness, Dan tackles the second half of the Leadville 100 trail, pushing forward into the night. We witness his crew's tremendous support; at mile 62, he picked up pacers Eric Hinman, Hall Charter, and Pilot Pete for different legs of the race, who encouraged Dan to push through the back half as his fatigue set in. Dan discusses the difference between his mindset and motivation going into the Leadville 100 in 2023 and how he shifted his perspective and intentions into 2024.

Dan!! Great video and series on Leadville. I appreciate the experience you brought forward. I the spirit of the sport, with what it means to find one’s self among the trails and to really see what we are made of, I think you need to go back a complete the race in the spirt of the rules. From pacing, to support in areas that are not allowed was frustrating to watch as you made your way through the course. I think you owe it to yourself.

As the guy in the lime shirt Mason I would have to agree with you and your assessment. I know I was irritated by the video crew up the back of Hope and all the way down, dealing with them was not a pleasant experience during a race I've waited a few years for.

I have more respect for the runners who did this with real Full-Time jobs. The time commitment and the organization it takes is a lot. Way more respect to people like Dan than those who are CEOs, influencers, or don’t work at all.
