Takes me back to thinking about when I did landscaping, raking was always the hated part for me. Right up until I found one of those push lawn vacuums. Eight horse engine, yeah it was kinda clumsy to move with it's small wheels, until those got upgraded. After that the only gripe about it was the small capacity but it was light-years better than running a rake I felt. Small water oak leaves, giant magnolia leaves, pinestraw with cones, poplar leaves and flowers... That vacuum was one of the best investments ever for the job.

thank you for this. It can be an art to it with technique and good machinery. Bulk vacuuming and shredding is key too. I just upgraded our Agrifab 's engine and the thing sucks leaves up, sticks too, with ease. A slight funnel-like end on that hose would increase efficiency about 10-20%. (just me thinking aloud(

Billy goat should build a metal "wall" that would sit on top of the intake chute and funnel the leaves into it so not as many leaves blow past it.

Absolutely love the concept of cutting an alleyway thru the pile and then working the edges. I've watched so may try to push the pile. Even with a pair of guys it doesn't work as well. Blowing the edges down a 10-20 ft alley is incredible. Walking up and down the edge is incredible feeling of power as a tumult of leaves pours down. Requires a circular motion with the blower that takes a little practice but once mastered you "Control The Wind"

I miss the days when we were allowed to burn the leaves in those metal cans with the holes in them but the stupid environmental stuff started and they banned it where I live, it used to smell so good on a chilly autumn day and yes I guess it might have been a fire hazard if not done right. The city used to have these giant vacuums towed by a truck that had a big box on the back, it had a huge pipe with a ninety degree angle and the end had a wide flat funnel thing, there were usually two guys with rakes, they would walk alongside and pull the leaves from the gutter and the vacuum would suck them up, as a little kid I used to love watching it, now we have to bag the leaves, I have a Snapper with a snapperizer attachment, if you don't know what it is it's a screen type device that attaches to the mower deck, you need to take the blade off attach it then put the blade back on, it basically shreds the leaves and reduces them so you can fit for in a bag then I have a funnel that goes inside the paper leaf bags and keeps it open, it's a lot more efficient than raking and works best when the leaves are dry, I don't know if they still make the snapperizer, they used to cost about 120 bucks, I found one at a car swap meet a guy had, it was brand new in the box, he didn't even know what it was, I asked him how much, he said 20 bucks, it was probably the quickest sale he ever had, my friend who passed away had one in his shed, I don't think he ever used it so now I have an extra one.

I do the same thing, I try to rake/blow all my leaves into the driveway or street. Then I vacuum them up with a push style yard vacuum that sucks them up and mulches them. Problem is, my neighborhood is all 100 year old oak trees that drop gigantic leaves! So my vacuum gets clogged up pretty easily. But I'm only doing my own yard so I'm not going to be buying a giant trailer vacuum like this. Must be nice though!
