You are absolutely right, I love the game, I love the characters, I looove these music videos and especially "Awaken", buuut... after letting it sink for a while and seeing so many of these, I can't help but feeling more than just slightly manipulated. It's a business and not only are the people who create these videos ridiculously talented, the people in marketing are as well. They got their fingers on the pulse of the Zeitgeist. When you get the same narrative shoved in your face over and over again though, it starts feeling hollow and unpersonal sooner or later. Then the goose bumps become more and more superficial. Authenticity and true connection is fading. I can't find the quote right now, but I believe Erich Fromm said something to the tune of: "When you are rooting for the good guy underdogs in those Mickey Mouse movies and feel redemption when they beat the forces of evil in a fantasy world, you are less likely to take action against the real evil in your own life, because your brains receptors for this are firing on all cylinders and it is satisfied enough already." That was a looong time ago and if you look at the way especially Disney is viewed as by many now... makes sense too. If you are the evil overlord yourself, what better way to quiet anybody challenging you, than to let them think the evil overlord is beat already? Not saying Riot is as rotten as Disney, but... you know, just some food for thought.
