Except it's not good lore. It's a fanfic tier show where the champions they decided to use don't sound or act like themselves, barely look like themselves, and blatantly contradict established lore, including lore made by the guy that got fired that everyone's praising. Whether or not the show itself may be good, it's not a good LoL show, same way DmC reboot was a decent game on its own but a terrible Devil May Cry game.

@@wakkaseta8351 Terrible take. I agree that in some cases they sound wrong, and they could have just used the actual voice actors. But on the other hand, its probably one of the best things to happen to league lore in ages. I also do understand some issues with the way hextech is being retconned, but its not terrible. Retconning isnt always awful, and is a good way to make the lore more usable versus letting it stagnate because of choices made early on, before they mattered.

Are you on drugs ? The plot of Arcane wasn't written 3 weeks ago, it goes back to the time of the Warwick rework, who was written with Arcane in mind. All characters are compelling, and those who don't act "in character" have been modernized masterfully. Jinx went from a cheap Harley Quinn knock off to a really interesting characters, Jayce is less an asshole than is his lore, characters that aren't even champions are super interesting (Silco, Sevika, the Medardas) etc etc... I think your comment was aimed at trolling but if it wasn't go get your eyes checked.

@@wakkaseta8351 I beg to disagree. If anything, the universe lore is so outdated and contradictory to itself, it barely represented the champions themselves. Jinx isn't just crazy anymore. Vi isn't just punchy anymore. Jayce isn't just an asshole anymore. Victor it's just GLORIOUS EVOLUTION. So on and so forth.

I really think they could go through the entirety of Runeterra from arcane moving from PnZ to Noxus towards Ionia with the Noxian invasion of Ionia as a crux from their they can get a second shot at the ruination event through the show by moving into Bildgewater and Demacia. Then from Demacia they can also tie in Targon through Taric, and from Ionia they can tie in Shurima from Taliyah they could also use Noxus technically but I think this is a bit more compelling. There is just so much potential for the animated series if they decide to continue it from here because of how interconnected the world of Runeterra is. I really want them to go to Targon ASAP though so many good stories there with DIana and Leona as well as Aurelion and Pantheon along with all the other aspects.

The end really got me all emotional. I love league, the universe. But the disregard of the characters in favor of the "original" product is maddening. I don't play this stupid game because of the game itself, I play it for the characters, the stories, the interaction with friends. Even now days me and my pals barely play league anymore, but we still gather together to talk about Arcane, about LoR, to play TFT. The company has a creative gold mine in it's hands, they can be te pioneers on entertainment for the next decade or so if they could just accept that putting all the focus on the game instead of nurturing the beautiful world they have managed to arrange and the creative minds that have gifted it to us is the wrong move.

I personally prefer the good old "Everyone is Dead" trope. With champ releases we're learning about the latest casualty on Runeterra in the purgatory known as the Rift. Some giant hextech or meteor or nuke went off, and we're getting champ releases in the order of their demise and what they did to the world in their last moments. That's why champs rarely get new lines or updates, they're literally stuck reliving their lives, frozen at the time of their death. (Lol, just realized everyone's Viego in this theory.) It also makes interactions that more tragic, realizing they are all trapped in an afterlife of violence and are not capable of moving forward... at least not until we're done puppeting them and the game shuts down.

Let's work together and stay positive to achieve victory. ^_^" Sometimes, it worked. Most of the time, it didn't seem to stop toxicity. I played League for the first time in a year, coming off Arcane. I chose an Aram game, for something light and fun. One of my teammates started flaming another for struggling. I said why get mad over an ARAM game. It didn't work to stop it. I don't think I can handle League's toxicity. But Arcane, and this video, made me realize how much more potential there is for this universe. Thank you for the great video.

Here is my gripe with everyone's complaint of leagues toxic community though. Every online multiplayer game has toxicity. Yes league is certainly on the top of the list, but I've played all sorts of multiplayer games growing up and if there is a chance to communicate with the other players be it voice chat, text chat, emotes or even the simple idea of t-bagging someone I always find toxic players. I don't think you can really find a game that doesn't host toxic players. There isn't a single multiplayer game that I've played expecting to not find a hint of toxicity. That is just what the online community is about. I don't agree with it, but I don't let it get to me either.
@LorcanaPandemonium3 жыл бұрын
@@TipsyRedley I respectfully disagree. Toxicity certainly exists in other games but there's plenty of options that do not compare to league. I still play Hearthstone. There's probably surrounding toxicity in parts of the fanbase, depending on what corners of it. But in playing it, with limited chat functionality, I can avoid it for the most part. I started playing FF14 this year. Lovely community with a really positive atmosphere. Even when people struggle during a raid, for the most part, pretty light (the worst thing I've seen is just everyone leaving after one run, but that doesn't feel as bad as league). I've done some of the PVP - not the ranked stuff, but nobody really seems to care that much about winning and there's limited to no toxicity. Heck, when I was playing Among Us on a Discord I'm in this year, there was the occasional friction, but overall no toxicity. It is very possible to have great multiplayer experiences with little or no toxicity, if you curate well enough and your systems are strong enough for it. Game genre/mechanics matter too, I don't know what the magic bullet is to fix it for League, but I know I can get multiplayer experiences elsewhere.

@@LorcanaPandemonium dude you are comparing things that are ABSOLUTLY uncomparable. If you want to compare to other games you need to go for things like mobas (dota 2 smite etc...) or at least team based or competitive games like tactical shooters or fighting games (overwatch, cs go, streatfighter etc...). I am so so SO happy about Arcane being a thing. If you can't outmatch the pace of new releases with maintenance, you shouldn't do them. Love Arcane. I think it's the best show I've ever seen bar none. I'll continue to support Riot because it's pretty much the greatest gaming companies I could ever imagine, but as time goes on, the bad things become worse, and if no remedied, it will suffer the consequences (which it already does). I'm the type of League player that would actually invite new players to play. The problem is that Riot is not communicating well enough to remedy the most vocal problems (even if they don't actually matter) and make the community more inline with their line of thinking. There is a huge divide and I saddens me. Side note: Legends of Runterra single player is awesome. Arcane made me cry for the first time in 5 years. Ruined King looks cool. Season 12 of LoL looks to be really fking fun. And holy sht! Hextech Mayhem is so fking fun!! Thank you Riot and really good video Nicky :D

league lore is amazing, but so frustrating at times. i'm pretty sure that the SoL event in the client was canon, and then suddenly wasn't. even arcane is loosely canon. they also said that the SoL comics was canon. it's like they just say something's canon until they receive backlash. the only person i think that actually suited the SoL event was Vayne. her entire character is based around fighting magic, and she's been doing it for years at this point. miss fortune, on the other hand, was completely gutted lore-wise. they ignored her characteristics, and slapped her as a ruined bc her skins sell well. i think that they should've done twisted fate, as it would justify graves' motivations to join the SoLs instead of "viego is stealing and it's gonna make me poor."
@phoenixflamegames13 жыл бұрын
Problem is, we got like 3 versions with very different events of the SoL event.....They can’t ALL be canon..

@2freeIvX what is the "original lore" you reference? Shen and Zed's chase of Jhin? Xerath's robbing Azir of his ascension and Renekton sacrificing himself to lock him up? Noxian invasion of Ionia and what that meant after for both nations? The War of Icathia and the later Darkin Wars? The Void in general? What exactly does it make "seem like a joke", dude? Arcane is good, very good, but if you think that comes at the detriment of other lore you're utterly wrong.

After what happened this year, and experiencing every single thing Riot released on League, since 2012. I strongly believe Riot Games is capable of doing 20/10 things, but they are also capable of doing absolutely horrendous, hideous, boring and senseless stuff. There’s no middle ground. Their music and animation teams are S tier, their other games are good (for the most part), Arcane is the best series I’ve seen, literally godlike shit. But the excessive skins, lack of updates on champions, gamemodes and decision making, in general… dear lord they need to get their shit together

The video was amazing. Like a love song to the universe of league and how it brought so many people into it. And seeing all these creators that I have (literally) grown watching them play, discuss, enjoy and love this game is such a beautiful end note. And yes LORE MATTERS!

As a Zac main, I saw the writing on the wall sooner then most when it comes to Riots writing. Remember when Riot needlessly updated Zacs lore so that his loving parents DIED so that they could make Zac a brooding vigilante. This may be a stretch, but I think one of the reasons this decision was made was to make Seraphine stand out as the only champion from Zaun to not be a broken mess. Zac used to be a bright spot in Zauns overall depressing atmosphere, just a good boy who wants to help people. Now he's just another broken thing from Zaun that needs Seraphine to help fix them.

and when you play zac while knowing the new lore it feels so awkward hearing voice lines that dont match the shit lore

By far the WORST Lore Retcon ever Created, and Seraphine has so many issue I could write an entire Paper about it, but I'll just leave it at that Seraphine isn't fighting for anything, and in the politcially charged environment of Modern Day and In Piltover/Zaun, that makes her feel so fucking useless to the plot of runeterra. (because she is, she was created excluvislely for the fucking K/D/A Skin)

That’s actually flat out impossible. Zac’s lore I believe was updated to goo Batman in 2017, 3 whole years before Seraphine. Hell, before K/DA itself. And also I don’t think Riot even cares that much about Seraphine, like she’s just there to sell the K/DA skin. I have no faith that they’ll ever do anything with her again.

Sentinel Irelia's weapons are a big plot hole that keeps bothering me; I wish that they made it so the sentinels could forge weapons to help fight the mist, and just made Irelia some sleek, hollow blade augments that she could temporarily attach in order to make the weapons _she's telepathically attuned to_ also work against the wraiths

Anyone with an online presence and know about League knows the lore guy’s name. Riot acknowledges this. And they say lore is disposable.

I personally believe that if the “eventual” MMO comes out and does really well, that Riot will drift away from League. Not abandon it but slowly stop making new characters, balance the game to its final point, and really only make skins for it. Perhaps once in a while a new VGU’s and VSU’s for characters to get people into a little bit more once in a while but that’s it. The MMO could completely redesign the older characters, introduce new characters we could love/hate (in a good way), and give us even more lore and backstory for so many characters. I don’t play League, due to every League content creator telling me NOT to play, but the lore is so intriguing and I like there other games more. It’s had a very good run but LoL needs to, not die, be put to rest.

This video perfectly sums up what I believe the majority of players feel, I'm sure there is a huge number of players that left League but will return to the runeterra franchise as more and more non MOBA games and such are released. I think it was TB skyen who said it but league is the most interesting fantasy universe that has ever been created. More interesting that anything Disney or a company like them could create. I look forward to the future at all the possibilities riot could do with the franchise and how much potential it has. Imagine all the shows, games, and hell real life things they could go with it. Imagine a League of Legends amusement park with all sorts of champion related rides and attractions. That's what I see in runeterra, I hope riot just sees there own potential.

I already said it, and I'm gonna keep saying it: Riot should copy Gamesworkshop's business model. Focus on worldbuilding and rent the IP to companies who want to create games and shows based on them with royalties attached. Riot Forge is Riot's future when League imevitably dies.

the good ending : league the moba dies and it is instead replaced by multiple games none of them are poorly balanced or toxic
@cannedsquasher59233 жыл бұрын
@@sasatofe7707 League isn't poorly balanced, yes there are occasions where like 1-6 champions might be either too strong or too weak but considering they have over 150 champions to deal with I'd say they are doing fine. Even if it is frustrating sometimes to deal with a champion with so much to their kit. The actual problem with League is that they balanced it to pro play and only pro play. So certain champions get to stay strong while weaker champions (Ryze) stay weaker. Not to mention how toxic the community is being the second major problem.
@Razeld3 жыл бұрын
@@cannedsquasher5923 So basically making the every growing champion pool pointless as you will be just rotating new champs around and leaving some old ones in such a state that there is no point in touching them as they wont win you the games even if you try to be creative with them.
