I love the symbolisms of demons as the problems and the phoenix as well. The phoenix being a symbol of rebirth, new beginnings, and in some obscure tales as courage and potentially leadership. It truly amazes me how I completely differently interpreted this song, based on the context of League of Legends RUINING my life in the past (sober/off playing now). And I still objectively appreciate this piece of art along with it having an importance to me personally. Here is my interpretation: "What are you willing to lose?" - I'm willing to lose everything, I don't care anymore. My relatives, friends, my girlfriend, health , career. Nothing else matters. "You cover your wounds, but underneath them (…)" - That's my internal struggle and pretending to the outside world that everything is fine. Feeding lies to myself that I'm not addicted. I can stop anytime I want. "A million voices in your head that whisper, "STOP, NOW" - The remains of my consciousness, rational thinking and most importantly, close ones who LOVES me and are worried. "Well, kid, what you gonna do now? It's your reflection looking back to pull you down" - Yes indeed, my reflection only brings me into further depression thoughts and escape mechanisms.- (- I'm gonna make it stop by playing more) And it's a NEVER-ENDING CYCLE. "So are you gonna die today or make it out alive? You gotta conquer the monster in your head and then you'll fly Fly, phoenix, fly" (that part really led me to tear up a bit) - This is mindful version of myself who has managed to rescue me. I'm not gonna die, I want to LIVE and break free. I'm conquering the addiction monster every day of my life. And I'm not going to stop. I resurrected from the ashes like a PHOENIX and finally can fly. If anyone out there is/or had been struggling with gaming addiction like me (or all other kinds of negative behavioural dependencies), I just want to say to you that you are STRONG. And you can achieve literally anything you dream of. No one else in the world can take responsibility for your life but YOU. Belive in yoursel. And I wish the very best to all of you.
