Good thing you have some basic from the LoL. You are doing pretty good in this match. I have some advice on hoodwink. 1. You can right click on your Q skill icon to toggle it to make it always plant a tree. 2. Maelstrom and Gleipnir is a very good item for hoodwink. 3. Your position on fights is a bit too front. Keep circling on the rim or at your skill range. Buying aether lense is a good option sometimes. Hope you enjoy the game

@SadFace2012 ай бұрын
@@yoncreator Something I noticed as someone that plays both League and Dota, fog and vision are far more important in Dota than in League. Ganks in dota often occur by nobody being on the map then suddenly 3-4 enemies are ontop of you. Playing from fog and knowing how to break line of sight with trees is integral to positioning for teamfights in dota. In League it's much easier to predict these kind of from-fog engages because walls and bushes are permanent and engage ranges are not your entire screen. Trees, high-vs-low ground, as well as day/night in dota add a lot more variability in how vision plays into a teamfight or gank. Also, good job learning the game. I'm the only one among my friends that likes to play multiple MOBAs and enjoys the different flavors of the genre. Glad to see someone enjoy learning the game rather than just getting frustrated by going in blind then quitting.

If this is an early game of yours I'm guessing you did a fair amount of research into the items etc., because of your purchases and all. And when playing Hoodwink, I sometimes go first item Arcane Boots, as mana is the thing I often struggle with most with that hero. Hoodwink has excellent spells, but what good are they if you can't cast them?
@yoncreator3 ай бұрын
In this game, I think I tried to use the in game guide feature and followed some of it. However, this game was played and recorded last summer, so the recommended items have changed significantly since then! I agree with the arcane boots! Nowadays I rush build it asap after stick (if opposing laners have spam).
@Lucas-lp9kh3 ай бұрын
with hoodwik I love to build Maelstrom first item, it has a powerful interaction with your Q. And allows you to easy farm lane and jungle. After that Desolator, then whatever fits against the enemy. Give it a try! At the end you got the combo, Q to the ground to create the tree, E to stun with that tree, charge ult while enemy is stunned. I'm a noob too, but that's the build I had more success with this hero :p also remember that your E allows you to walk through the trees, for easy scape and easy positioning for the combo!

I was looking for a LOL player to start a Dota series, so I hope you will make more videos like this one. It was well made and I especially liked the part with the last hitting under the tower. :D Dota has a lot of intriguing techniques and mechanics so it is tough to master, it can be too much, especially in turbo where everything is sped up, so I recommend all pick. But your actions have a greater impact, so you must be careful. (perhaps you have played all pick when you said you played more games), but anyways. I can talk about this for hours, but in short, if you are interested in learning Dota, I would recommend a "friend" with Dota knowledge on call and start with playing against bots first, so you can pause and talk about mechanics just as they happen. Cheers! Have a great day!
@yoncreator3 ай бұрын
Hey thank you for watching and leaving a thoughtful comment! Glad you enjoyed that part about last hitting under the tower - it surprisingly took a while to create that in the editor. I definitely play only all pick or ranked now. I quickly realized turbo isn't as fun as normal mode for me. Dota is definitely very difficult in the sense that there are mechanics and concepts that are so new and foreign in comparison to League. I'd say that League is a lot more streamlined and simple in terms of mechanics while Dota has some really wild mechanics (e.g. blocking camps, stacking camps, BKB, etc).

I always like seeing players from LoL play Dota and vice versa as it introduces new tactics from the other game. My League buddy thought me that in league as a support you are supposed to be close to your core in a straight line perpendicular to the lane for "maximum kill threat". So eventually I started doing the same thing with some of my heroes in Dota and my kills in lane skyrocketed! I think both fandoms can learn from each other in multiple ways

Legitimately, good sh*t. small tip; you can alt cast your q to always create a tree BUT lose the ability for it to lock onto someone... but hey if you're using it primarily to stun, it's good enough and it still bounces to a random enemy after that. You can toggle this with alt+q btw or just right clicking the ability button (but that's kinda slow).
@Cronation.2 ай бұрын
Good stuff man, I learned to play with Bounty Hunter myself. Things look good to me! You'll fix most of the mistakes you made on your own. Just remember to use your item, spam those low cd items like solar or hood, you can sell things in turbo from anywhere too so getting rid of your wand and tangos. Lastly the crystalis, crit stick, you just had too many items near the end. Hood is a semi carry/support so she usually builds a little support like Rod of Atos, and or Glimmer first, then Gliepnir, Desolator, Daedalus, etc. Keep it up and you'll go far :pa_kiss:

Gelphnir is a more reasonable option on wink imo, the maelstrom acceleates your farm, the longer range lets you catch people and then walk closer to bushwack, and its cheaper. Just little tips, when starting game, ask ur lanning friend, are u carry or support, if he said carry, then u must do support. Learn what support must do. If u play hoodwink, and u play as pos 4 (soft support), u must make sure ur offlane survive the lanning phase, harras enemy support and carry, block neutral camp with sentry, and rotate to mid, to help kill their pos 2 (midlaner carry). U can also stacking ur ancient if ur pos 3 have bad lanning phase, they can recover latter. Buy support item first, like arcane boot , rod of atos, force staff or eul can really have impact in game. Anyway good luck.

I noticed that you keep clicking the enemies when pressing your Q then following it up with your W but there is no stun since there is no tree for the enemies to get tangled on. As hoodwink, you can right click your Q or press CTRL + Q to use the alternate cast for the spell (the spell's icon will change as well if you do this). In this case, hoodwink's acorn shot will always plant a tree no matter if you click the enemy or not allowing you to instantly throw your W to stun enemies. Also, welcome to DotA

Not sure how it is in League but alot of Heros and some items in dota allow you to operate from a significant distance with many being able to reach offscreen, this is also why ward vision is so important as more often then not by the time you can see the enemy hero on your screen its already too late so you'll want that early warning. I usually go for early mana items( like on the start buy that purple mask for 0.7 mana, and then into arcane boots), and it can be seen that you really struggled with mana early game. Hoodwink has strong spells for early game, so having enough mana is essential for her. If you/your team mate get killed too often, you should buy Force staff or Glimmer cape to save either yourself or your mate out of bad situation. For example, in this situation 5:14 when huskar jumped on you(lets ignore Pudge hooking him back), you could use force staff to push yourself and break distance, or glimmer to become invisible. Otherwise, if not for Pudge's hook, he would have killed you. If your team does not really require saves and you have some few peacefull minutes, go Maelstorm - it significantly boosts your acorn shot and allows you to farm creeps/ancients very fast, which means you can gather gold much faster for everything else, and in late game you can upgrade it into a Glepnier, which can root an entire group of enemies and make them an easy immobile target for your tree+bushwack combo. If you still do not feel save, you can buy Aether lense, to make yourself cast abilities from even further and safer distance. If you get jumped and killed VERY fast (we are talking about 2-3 seconds) with high alpha damage and/or a bunch of debuffs/slows that make you unable to escape , get yourself Aeon disk - it makes you invulnerable for like a second after you are below 70% hp and dispels most negative effects, but during this invulnerability you can't attack either(shouldn't be a problem if you are support). Also about planting a tree - if you press right click on the acorn shot ability, it will go into alternative mode, where it will ALWAYS plant a tree, even if you click right on the hero. Also, another important thing about acorn shot - everything(at least I think so) that boosts/affects your base attack works on acorn shot too, like maelstorm would make acorn shot have a chance to start a chain lighning, slow down from Eye of Scadi works on every hit of acorn shot too, same for blight stone/corrosion orb/Desolator, additional crit chance from Daedalus, etc. Hoodwink is an awesome hero with strong crowd control and mobility, that allows you to run around the map and suddenly help out in different fights. If you get yourself Glepnier + Orchid Malevolence/Heavens Halbert/Scythe of Vyse, you become and extremely obnoxious hero that can straight up disable almost any enemy hero from the fight, but with how squishy your are, you usually become the target number one, which means you have to be extremely careful with your positioning. For as long as enemies can't reach you, you become their nightmare, and this is what you should try and learn to do.

Thanks a bunch for the detailed advice and feedback! I really appreciate it. When you play as a Pos 4, what's the best way to get gold in the match without getting in the way of your carries pos 1/2/3? I don't want to take farm or resources away from teammates, but in a lot of my normal all pick matches people don't really farm the camps or push waves, so I end up taking a lot of them (which I don't mind at all because I get to build expensive items!) I ask this for the future because I would like to know the "proper" way to play Dota 2.

@@yoncreator Well, I don't really play by a strict plan or anything, but I am gonna try and tell how it feels I am doing it. So, as a position 4, you technically have "right" to farm creeps together with your carry( position 5 is the one that gives everything to their carry and just constantly walks with them), so you can talk this out with your team mate. Usually, I get plenty of gold from kills/assist in early game, but if you can't secure such at that moment, just take any opportunity to get gold that your carry can not use. For example, if you see that he can't kill some creep in time before it dies - kill it yourself. If you see your carry is away for some reason, farm the creeps. If you see that your carry is all fine on the lane by himself, you can farm ancients. If you see your carry can stay fine alone for around 30 seconds, go get gold runes on the sides. If you see your carry can do fine by himself for a minute or 2, you can go through the portal and try to gang somebody on the other lane( could be mid too.) After laning phase is ended, I just walk around the map and farm creeps/ancients if I see that none of my teammates need help, nobody of my teammates are attacking(if they do, you better be with them, since you can save them or catch enemies with bushwack), there are no targets to gang and none of the carries are around to take those creeps/ancients instead. If you have enough vision, courage, save tools and/or map control, you can steal anicents from enemy's side( double win, since you both deny enemy getting them, and you are not taking away from your team mates), but you gotta do it carefully. If your team is doing fine and there is no need in any particular item (like Orchid Malevolence to silence some annoying/dangerous hero, or force staff/glimmer to get your team mates out of problems), get Maelstorm first. With Maelstorm, you can clear out almost any creep wave/ancient camp with a single acorn shot. Hell you can even run into enemy's forest and clear out 2 out of 3 camps there in a matter of 4-5 seconds - acorn shot into one camp, bushwack into another, finish off survivors and run away with free gold. With such kill speed bonus, Maelstorm allows you to safely clear out creep waves even far away from the team mates (For example, lets say you are far from the team and there is a creep wave deep inside enemy's territory, somewhere between their T1 and T2. You shouldn't stick around there in vision of enemy's creeps for long, since enemies could easily gang you there. Maelstorm allows you to clear any creep wave in 3 seconds and safely run away before anybody could come here.) One awesome thing about Hoodwink, is that unlike many other supports, she can actually scale up pretty well with farm into a secondary core/carry(for as long as your team has heroes to protect her form being focused instantly). if you see that your carry isn't doing well/doesn't know how to play well, just start farming for yourself. Overall conclusion - take any farm that your team mate can not/does not. Hoodwink scales really well with good items and you need it.

Good content and easy sub from me. Youve got some good instincts, probably coming from league. Your itemization in this game is a little goofy (but there's a mountain of items in Dota and will take a while to learn them all). Veil of Discord for instance is wasted gold on you (I think the primal beast had a shiva's guard (upgraded Veil). Veil also eminates from the hero casting it, making it better for heroes that are going to be in the front or bait enemies into jumping onto them. If you really like support (I am a hard support player myself), aura and steroid items will win you games, even if your own damage isn't there. You will win a lot of games just by making yourself slippery, and steroiding your carry. Drums, Solar Crest, Force Staff, Glimmer Cape, Lotus Orb. You really can build these on any support hero and win games.

as dota vets, most of us more like to watch the skill development of new players by the time, instead of pro players playing their daily ranked games. well ofc pro plays are still entertaining to watch especially when it comes to major or TI, but watching new player improves their skill or watching herald rank (lowest rank) gameplay is much more entertaining xd. 100% waiting for your next dota gameplay progression
