i find the skin wars funny to watch, i am a Yorick main and i know how it is to play a dead champion (6 years without new skin) i was happy and surprised that in the last few years Yorick got a skin pre year. i dont even want to imagin how it is for Skarner mains. If you want to complain that your champion doesn't get enough skins remember that somewhere out there is a Skarner main waiting another 5 years in hopes for a skin.

What makes Gwen’s mains upsets isn’t only the fact that she got a prestige, is that she got a prestige and a legendary on Wild Rift while PC players waited 2 years seeing the legendary and the star guardian skin just to get a decent epic. Also, her star guardian skin is the only one not in the PC version as of today and this skin line is known for being extremely popular so it’s understandable people are mad to be the only ones left from the party. If you add the 2 years of wait for an epic skin to the exclusives star guardian, legendary and prestige and Crystal rose (which is a “variant” of the skin line a lot of people want to see brought to PC), though I do not think harassement is the proper answer, they have reasons to manifest their anger at Riot albeit in a respectful way

This shit happened last time with Coven and no one cared. Kayle's situation was a HUGE harbinger to show the league community the massive amount of disregard the League skin team has about just skins in general. They just focus on what champions will make money and pretend to care about the rest whilst not actually giving a fuck. 1. Riot gives 0 shits about skin line universe lore (Coven Morgana is Legendary, whilst Sun Eater Kayle *The main antagonist of the skin line* is Epic, and Solar Eclipse Sivir *A literal no one in the lore* is Legendary) 2. Riot won't listen to the suggestions/requests on the PBE skin line reddit/forum posts, as seen by numerous skins having issues and weren't changed at all or had changes that no one asked for, and was even admitted to by a Riot employee on Twitter before 3. Riot will never give a fuck and just play the "humanity" card... as presented in this video. These Riot employees will just give players the middle finger for 2/6 or more skins per skin line and then when we get mad about it they'll go "Woah guys hey, you need to calm down! This is exactly why the league community gets the worst reputation because we're just trying to do our job and you guys cuss us out" as they actively just make skins with blatant disregard for how or why they are doing so.

There's just one issue to your argument : This isn't re-creating the skins from scratch, because the design work of the skin is already done. Only the technical part has to be re-made, but the actual concepts are already invented, this is a huge task already skipped. So, it's easier to port a skin (despite the technical work) than making a brand new one. (I'm not a Syndra / Seraphine / Gwen main)

It's wild when you think about it. All of this drama is created mostly by mains of a single champion. At least 95 % of the League playerbase are not commenting or couldn't give a crap about a skin not being legendary or being a Wild Rift exclusive to the point of rage. And yet people are making this out to be a huge deal. Also attacking the devs is never justifiable. The people who are doing that shit are just using the drama as an excuse to be assholes, and I applaud any content creator who calls people out on shit behaviour like this, because it negatively affects the whole community and fandom.

I feel like something people keep forgetting is there are more special interactions for champions and skins on LoL PC than there are on Wild Rift. If they were to bring Crystal Rose Seraphine and Gwen over to LoL PC, they’d need to create even more new voice lines, since there just aren’t going to be that many unique voice lines per legendary skin in Wild Rift. Edit: this isn’t a defence of a corporation, it’s merely a comment to point out something which I hadn’t seen anyone else bring up before.

About 17:25/20:55 they would still have to make only the technical part and not the artistic side of the skin + they already know the community likes it and that it would sell well. And anyway about the porting half of wr esclusive skins (at lest the model) are uploaded as custom skin like a few days after the release but actually now that you make me think of it riot is a small indie company so idk if it’s too much effort for them… (Not a Gwen, Sera ecc main btw)

Yes they work in different enginges and in different resolutions, but the design process for a skin is still the same, is it not? Excluding som cases like ultimate and legendary skins which need different specs, designing the champion on paper is still the same. If the Wild rift and LoL team got together once a month to discuss skins they were planning on releasing, they could ask the designer for the design on paper, and then the team specifik designers could later port their own versions into their own games. Would details be different sometimes? Yes, but the skin as a whole would still get ported over. "These are two different teams working on two different games" becomes so apparently dumb when you look at the fact that wild rift OFTEN ports of skins from league of legends into their own game.

Seen this repeating for years. Asking devs politely, barely works for league or ANY game ever, either speak loud or speak harshly to get what you want. this drama is result of riot playing stupid games and winning stupid prizes. riot has been dropping the ball for what has been *checks notes* 2 years. bad anthems, garbarge skins, trash balancing, expensive cosmetics and passes, everything getting nerfed and buffed almost randomly, cool champ vids with meh champs etc. and the engine issue is killing me basically. they NEED to ditch the old client and old engine and get on with a shiny UE or something else. cause the current engine, basically can't handle all the dashing anymore(to put it mildly)

Idk why people think Syndra getting a Coven skin instantly disqualifies her from getting a legendary in the same line. We got Pajama Guardians, now Redeemed. KDA All Out, Battle Bunny Prime (Riven got robbed btw) to name a few. I don't know why the idea of Syndra getting her chance again is so farfetched

All drama aside, Syndra's Coven skin really is quite a disappointment simply due to the fact that Coven skins are known for their high quality (regardless of the skin being Legendary or not), and Syndra's Coven skin is like a bad sheep in that skin series.

I'm frankly not surprised that this drama even exists and the irony of it all is that Riot themselves more or less added fuel to the fire and instigated these kinds of responses. This roughly started picking up traction right before one of Riot's recent developer posts to the League of Legends channel regarding the demand for the PC porting of the Star Guardian exclusives Wild Rift had acquired. They made it clear that if a demand was big enough, they'd attempt to port over those exclusives between the games. Wild Rift has in my opinion been used as not just a way to 'mobilize' League of Legends, but to essentially act like bait to the hungry lions and it's been working. This is clearly a tactic Riot Games are and have been using. They use one of the platforms, primarily Wild Rift, to put on display an exclusive product to possibly create massive demand should one or the other platform receive an exclusive. This is what the marketers are essentially pushing for so they know what kinds of skins, and what kinds of champions are still quite profitable. However what they didn't expect was the kind of responses that would come out of this. The bait in question is in fact these exclusives which annoys a lot of League players whom have demonstrated quite the intense passion for their champion(s). It was quite the passion that unfortunately a employee at Riot sought fit to mock it.... i wonder how well that was received.... not great. This bait may work on the hungry lions, League players, but it also creates a fair amount risk so much so that Riot Games and Tencent have only themselves to blame for it and that takes the form of these potential death threats or immature responses. You can only bait and tease lions so much before they decide to do something when you'd least expect it, pounce.

The problem with Wild Rift is just how much better its models look than League of Legends. As someone that works in the industry I am not at all exagerating when I say that League's PC models are some of the worst I have ever seen, including the newest ones. They are extremely lazy, ignore 90% of the skin's concept art and splash art, and don't make any attempt of looking good in play. If Riot decided to just bring WR to PC, I'd instantly switch over to it just because of how much nicer it is. They need to either make a switchover to an upgraded engine branch (Like how CS GO was recently updated from Source 1 to Source 2) or stop making wild rift all together.

Ppl who have mains will actually buy a skin, so if your dedicated player base gives u feedback or wants a specific skin or tier already in the works wouldn't that result more money for riot and player satisfaction? Its true that riot ignore feedback or does not communicate with the player base. Brightmoon could communicate with the people way sooner about the state of the skin , then waiting for spam or worse to happen and then reply. " we hear you" but they dont communicate it. People asked for many improvements during pbe and they ship the initial concept anyway. If the player base is not happy the game will continue to lose players. Sad state of the game in 2023.

I think they're right to be upset about how shit the skin is ingame, but then again Riot has shown they don't give a shit about skin quality at this pricing range. Almost every 1350 skin right now feels extremely shitty one way or another, a complete opposite of their Splash Art. Someone designed this and thought "Yeah this looks demonic", which is kind of a joke to me. Nothing about this skin screams demonic. You could tell me this is Crime City Nightmare Syndra and I'd believe it, which isn't a compliment because I seriously think Crime City Nightmare skinline is ALSO an entire can of whoopass of its own. When you tell me "demonic", I think about summoning circles. I also think about horns, wings, glowing eyes, claws and a sulky, sinister vibe. Coven Syndra is... uh... she throws dark-red balls at people. For a champion who conjures balls out of nowhere, they could've given her summoning circles below where the orbs spawn, they could've added a shrieking noise to her E like a Banshee's scream that shoots enemies away and makes her orbs glow with negative energy as they fly - and instead, they did things the Riot way. The Riot way is looking at a color palette, seeing "Okay it's a dark-themed skinline" and adding baseline, generic dark-themed things like crows. It misses the complete point of the cinematic, they were shown chanting for an old god and that old god is MORDEKAISER, NOT FUCKING SWAIN OR FIDDLESTICKS! Is it a stupid complaint? I guess, given the fact that Syndra just had a prestige and she also has extremely god-tier skins altogether with Star Guardian, Spirit Blossom, hell, even her first skins like Justicar are fucking awesome.

If you think League is 'just a game' you're mistaken. For a lot of people it amount to a LOT. An escape from reality, a false validation, whatever you want to call it. Imagine Lux with her skin quantity but never once one of those was a legendary/ultimate, imagine the anger. Most people just want one really nice skin for their champ, since at the end of the day you have to choose 1 to use in game. Also want to clarify Fiddle technically has a legendary, Pantheon has a prestige and mythic, and even a rarer champ like Skarner has a legendary. I think every champ deserves a legendary skin at minimum. Champs shouldn't be getting their second+ legendary and prestige while others have none.

The problem around the skins are that Wild Rift and League are not on the same page. Wild Rift get League's skins AND their own (Really creative) exclusive ones. League on the other hand are just given skins of varying quality that could just be taken by Wild Rift at a later point. For as near identical as the games try to seem, Their Skin design teams should have proper relay with each other. (Like what was done for Zeri from League of Legends and Neon from Valorant.)

as a xayah main, it really sucked to see that arcana AND broken covenant xayah/rakan wouldn't be getting their lover's leap special animation, and were just their base one. it's one of the special features of the champions together, they're SUPPOSED to be cooler together. now, seeing that RSG gets the normal SG recall, it just doesn't make sense lore-wise. I'm not too angry about the fact that I have to pay for it again, mostly because we've seen this in the past with eclipse leona, and thought this would be a path they could end up taking.

Seems to be a trend. FFXIV has the same problem with Veira players. Devs plan a bestial race, drop constant hints about it. Suddenly are forced to crowbar in a sexy race that some very loud people are screaming about, despite the head of the project saying, multiple times, he has no interest in making them, because they're a single gender race, and he doesn't like single gendered races. Results in two half baked races, one gender each. Both are disappointed. Excuse me, I mispoke. Beast race are disappointed, but polite. 'Sexy' race starts screaming death threats, and calling the devs transphobic for not adding males (which never existed in the lore). Guess which side got what they wanted? And guess which side continues to get anything they want, up to and including entire voice tracks specifically for them. And guess which side continues to scream and whine anything anything doesn't cater specifically to them.

Kinda sad if you ask me. Id be happy with the 1350 varient. Especially when theres far more neglected champs than syndra.

One of the rioters responded saying something along the lines of they can't please everyone with giving champ skins for certain themes, but there's no way in hell Riot didn't know Syndra mains really wanted legendary coven Syndra above anything else. Coven isn't a one and done line, it keeps getting new skin batches, if Riot knew they were doing legendary Nami they could've just not had Syndra be with this batch and save her for a later one. Riot has also effectively walked themselves into a corner with Syndra skins too, where it feels like the next one has to be legendary. Also Akali really sneaking in with another prestige is downright disrespectful to Elise and Nilah who don't even have one yet. I don't understand why Riot can't just make a commitment to giving every champ a legendary and prestige. Would it take time? Sure, but they could say some absurd time-frame of by the 25th anniversary. Do people of mains with tons of skins especially ones with 2 legendaries really crave new skins that badly that Riot can't give love to other champs? I'm a Yasuo main I don't need more Yasuo skins, I'd rather they gave other champs skins, he has plenty. If its about money wasn't the Jhin skin supposed to be for that kinda thing? Even if they still have to make skins for them for money, they don't at the very least need another prestige attached to them.

20:23 but before riot announced that they would port the sg exclusive skins (senna, orianna, seraphine) to PC, players/modders made mods of those skins, with their models imported from wild rift - how could a modder achieve that if they have to make it from scratch? Idk...

The community has proven time and again that Riot is just lazy, hell some dude just made a new redesign for the client that looks really cool, also I love the custom maps that are impossible to make despite people doing so in their free time with far less resources.

Yeah, like sure it's effort, but it's called a fucking job. And they'd probably make a ton of sales from it. I mean couldn't they make the base model on a software that both league's engine and unity can utilize, and then just take it seperately from there ? There is no excuse for it honestly, yeah some people are clueless about it but just defending it like it's so so so difficult for a company as big as Riot, is just absurd.

@@ihavevisionfearme People seem to really don't understand how working within a company goes. They have data that support their decisions. Seraphine is far more popular in Wild Rift, so thus reading the data it made sense for the Wild Rift dev team to allocate time and resources into making that skin. League team on the other hand work with the data from their PC game, so they decide to spent the dev hours into what will benefit them the most. Usually the ones that really want a skin and complain are a loud very very minor part of the community, considering the bigger picture. They are making a ton of sales from what they are doing.

The problem is that these are people who want to support the company. Like, you're not obligated to play the game or buy the skins, sure, BUT the company Riot Games have grossed over 20 million dollars from a SINGLE Valorant skin. That's nothing to scoff at. They're constantly ignoring the player base that brought them from small indie company to a main staple of digital gaming, people have the right to complain when they've been playing the games for years and spending their cash on it. :p

@@luckas221a I totally agree with this, when they are lazy they should be pointed out but I hate how most of the focus in on skins sometimes and I get it to some extent, but "stans" is just kinda dumb.
