I upgraded to Bolt v2 and was extremely glad I did. A map display that is actually readable, color coded HR and power fields, on board navigation so if you veer off course it guildes you back sensibly, informative, color-coded elevation chart with a read-ahead even without a route loaded. My friend, though, has the original Bolt and does not see the need to upgrade, even given all this.

It's so hard to see in bright light, and I don't have particularly bad eyesight. Have always wished they would update it so that you can disable the ambient light sensor and allow you to max out the brightness at all times. I understand why they don't: battery life. Just wish they would give the user that choice as I'd gladly sacrifice a couple hours of battery to actually be able to see the display at all times.

I'm ready for the ACE, right now! I have had a roam but the overall battery life was horrible. I used it multiple times a week but only got about 2 years out of it. It won't work at all now. I bought the garmin 1040. really hate it. touch screen is horrible when it rains and sucks with gloves too. Every time I touch it with my fingers, I'm getting a smudge or a smear on it. When it rains, every rain drop affects the screen -switching it to some other screen. Size of the ace screen is big and I don't really need it that big, but for a better battery and button control, I'm all in. I will buy this as soon as I can.

I'm 55 and have a harder time reading smaller text, so I went with the 1040 and now 1050 from Garmin so I can keep the same number of fields on my main display, but have a larger font. I was frustrated with the issues I've had with finding a mount that actually does work (some claim they do, but don't, at least with my S-Works Future Stem's front mount).

I’ll definitely buy it, I already have every model they’ve made to date, the original Elemnt was so so and always had condensation behind the screen, but I like the simplicity of Wahoo, I’ve also got a Garmin 1000, way too many things to play around with, I’ve given it to my wife.

I upgraded from Bolt v2 to Garmin 840, but after a couple of months I realized it I like Wahoo's usability and data screens more. Garmin had features, things like a wind field, stamina prediction, navigation instructions that pop up with the map of the intersection and seconds remaining, but Wahoo's map screen with 4 data fields and an elevation chart just gave me data in a concentrated manner that I was unable to achieve on Garmin. So I sold the Garmin, and luckily I've kept the Bolt.

I may be alone in this sentiment, but I will be sad to see the side and top lights go away. Particularly the top set of lights as that is invaluable for a quick glance (with barely a movement of my head) to see if the Varia radar is detecting anything. I had Garmin for many years but have always liked Wahoo's implementation of the radar alerts better.
@BarryJHoffman
@BarryJHoffman 15 күн бұрын
I exactly agree about the varia top lights. Key to quickly being alerted but will also add that I'm disappointed as the side lights show me instant power zone no matter what page on and side lights show if ahead or behind a segment. I'm gonna stick with roam 2 alone for these reasons

Realized I actually prefer non-touchscreen glass. Been using an Edge 840 and find that too often bumpy roads mean I hit the wrong spot on the screen. Also, finger grease all over the glass after a ride. And the fuss to get touchscreen-enabled full finger gloves, especially thick winter ones. Wish Wahoo had something like the MyBikeRadar special field that uses the Varia data feed to display (and record) the actual speed of vehicles approaching from behind, updating every second. Really useful to (a) pick out the crazy fast speeders and (b) tell if vehicles have noticed me (because they slow down). Sadly, it's not working well with the latest Garmin OS update. Looking for a ROAM on sale.

I'd buy it in a heartbeat mainly for the aluminium mount *and if its back tab is made of aluminium too* - and even better if said back tab is replaceable. It still boggles my mind no major brand offers any option to replace the back tabs of their head units. I had a stupid crash just a couple months after getting my Elemnt Roam 2 and everything was ok - except its stupid weak back tab. Good luck if you want to replace it, and even more good luck if you can replace it without losing its "aero".

Just bought the new Roam V2 after owning the original Roam for 10+ years I guess. Battery finally died. Anyhow I love it. SW is still so much more simple than Garmin and the Roam is super easy to use and Very readable. I wear glasses all the time thus have reading built into all my specs. Can read it fine. Not sure I would want anything bigger nor could care less about even more features. The Ace looks great for the folks enjoying gadgets at the next level but not racing anymore my days of attempting to be the most aero are over. Had spreadsheets and power vs speed with wind estimates and all when I was doing TT racing. The bell is nice but prefer to verbally say hello or good morning on the common paths. Another push button is silly I do wish Wahoo had a web interface for free with the computers but these days Strava and Ride with GPS do what I need. Ace looks awesome, rather save up for a new phone.

If you have head or tailwind while riding your wattage is gonna be recorded accordingly with your power meter(s). Bah, that's not remotely innovative enough for my taste. What we want (we just don't know it yet) is - A one-pane-of-glass information device - It shall be an aerodynamic windscreen that improves our drag coefficient - It shall have on-screen display of speed, power, heart rate, navigation, etc. - It shall have AI supported reality augmentation (e.g. scan other rider's chain/cassette and display what gear they're in) - It shall have a glycogen prediction engine (i.e. "carb battery indicator") - It shall have a whole app infrastructure ( so that I can live stream and share my view with my jealous friends or send inconsequential and purpose-less tweets while riding) -It shall have an entertainment library (listen to music, watch movies etc.) - optional: stretch this device from front to back of my bike (weather protection for the rider) - optional: add two more wheels to my bike, with additional seats for passengers and a combustion engine so that I don't have to pedal anymore Well, this escalated quickly, didn't it

A bell on a bike computer is SILLY.

Not really. It’s actually super useful to have a bell built into the computer. On my gravel bike I have aero bars so cannot fit a bell, plus I would rather use my voice to warn people I am coming than have an ugly bell on the bike. But if my bike computer had a bell it would be awesome as I dont need any extra mounts and it wouldn’t affect the aesthetics of the bike at all. I do understand for most people a bike computer not having a bell isnt a big deal. But for the more competitive athletes they tend not to have bells on their bike so this will fix that problem.

Yeah another bike "GPS" that is totally useless when I am out somewhere then you know, want directions to somewhere else. Most cyclists should really just buy a beeline. Far better navigation that actually works as you would expect.
