LEAKED Xbox Controller with motion controls ?!?!

The new leaked Xbox controller has some innovative features, maybe Xbox will finally not hold the gaming industry back by not adding gyro to their controllers?

I'm guessing the accelerometer is just there for the "lift to wake" function the same leaked slide mentions. I feel like motion control support would be significant enough of a feature that it would have been outright mentioned in this internal presentation slide.

Makes sense that the accelerometer is strictly used for "lift to wake". With all the billions in profits this company makes, a 3-axis motion-sensing package or even a magnometer is just too much to include in the new controller footprint.

0:25 You should totally do a video with gyro on a windows desktop, using it as a mouse and pretending to do some sort of tutorial video...only to reveal in the end that you used gyro all along. I think that would help people understand what gyro is capable of!

That's just accelerometer. An entirely different thing compared to gyroscope.

I wish the xbox division would look at the steam deck as a standard to aspire to. 4 back buttons, gyro, and capacitive joysticks. Since this document dates back to 2020 before the steam deck, and all the praise Phil Spencer gave to it, I would like to think so.

I really hope that this become reality one day. I play on xbox and i have over 180.000 gamescore, im hyped up for gyro aiming and its a shame that the xbox controler ir the only one that doesnt have gyro.

Phil Spencer has already discussed how well sony has done with the dualsense controller. So I’m not worried about them not implementing gyro and holding gaming back another decade or two

Big problem with the gyroscope is the physically inconvenient control of gamepad. It is too hard to control in vertical aiming, if it is on the table. And it is unstable to control on knees. Also to have good aiming it is important to have 0 deadzone. But with 0 deadzone.....it is painful for eyes and head at all.

All of these problems are caused by bad implementation. The problem isn't the tech, it's the devs that don't know how to work with gyro yet. Fortnite basically fixed all of these issues, hope you give it a go!

I see, good to know! Even so. Most games with gyro aim don't have a good implementation, even Steam Input that is my main way of playing with gyro aim just launched a new update that makes gyro much steadier. So I hope we just need to give devs the time and incentive to make gyro aim the best that it can be!
