This is a proven way to stop your air handler from sweating in hot and humid attics. This method is proven and can get the units efficiency up to R 14.some times due to hot, humid attics we have to wrap inside of air handlers the will work on your home air conditioner
Thanks for watching!

I think the bubble wrap is only r7 if it is used with the proper plastic air gap spacers. And two layers does not make it r 14 for sure.

That is not R14, maybe R2. To reach R7 for single layer, you need put an air tight space between the layer and the thing to be insulated. Putting two layers together can not get R14, you will need to make two air tight spaces to reach R14, which is impossible for this application.
@ThierryC2373

I agree, even the installation notice says that you must put one layer of bubbles then spacers equivalent to twice the thickness of the bubbles and finish with another layer to reach maximum insulation values. Nonetheless, I did replace parts of the duct board in my air handler sitting in the garage with one layer of foiled bubbles with success. The duct board was saturated with water and stunk like crazy, I need to redo all the insulation of the thing since in South Florida, the garage gets pretty hot and humid in summer. That will wait until next dry season, it's way too sweaty right now to do that!

Not trying to be cynical here but why are you doing this? The manufacturer surely has designed the air handler for every climate. The larger issue is airflow. Lower air flow lowers coil temperature which lowers the temp inside the cabinet. I live in Tallahassee Florida and have seen my share of bubble wrapped air handlers in crawls or in attics. EVERY SINGLE one have been low on airflow. I would exhaust all possibilities before I ever reinsulated or wrapped an air handler. When R4 was standard for wrapping duct we never saw them sweat. I would like to see the static on the air handler once it is installed. I would bet money on all sweating air handlers it is directly related to airflow.

Tight attics and crawl spaces will produce sweating to some degree even if your static meets manufacturers recommended static pressure, bubble wrap doubled up will help, there are a lot of hack shops in Tallahassee specially KLC.

I am in south Texas and the humidity got really high water started leaking from metal cabinet or box whatever its called . Anyway my carrier infinity has insulation on bottom of cabinet and it is soaking wet because of sweating . Should i take out the insulation ? It is leaking from cabinet , but isulation is soaking wet . Will it dry out as humidity decrease ? My main concern is will it rust the cabinet out . I was thinking of pulling it out and straying rubberized coating on metal bottom of cabinet to protect it . Unit is in the attic . I am not an ac tech so i can only do so much . Great video 5 stars . No way is that thin of a sheet R7 each.....look at all the various possible materials....polystyrene up to polyiso.... all are different R values, and you will need at least 1" thickness of any of these materials to get R7. If this manufacturer is claiming R7 then it would be a specific system rating that includes the film you show,....an airspace...and possibly some credit given to the reflective surface. But as a general statement....this sheet you show is not R7 and certainly not R14 stacked.

The can is the boot that is above finished wall what the registers (the grills)screw to. The metal pipes that carries the air to the house should all be insulated 100 percent. I humid climates any thing without insulation will condensate (sweat). You can use this bubble wrap insulation to stop this from happening.

My understanding is that there's a relationship between the temperature on the outside and what you set the AC on the inside, with that in mind, if you set the AC too low you'll start getting condensation, meaning water dripping from vents; another thing that's important, if you're using one of those virus/bacteria removing filters, I have found out that the can cause condensation, again water dripping from vents. So in conclusion, don't set the AC too low, I do 76 or 75, and use a medium filtration filter if that makes sense, if you keep your house clean, don't make your AC work extra hard. One last thing, if you keep doors open during a hot day, that air here in Florida will translate into condensation inside the air ducts, and you know what that means. Hope that helps.

How do you get these parts into the attic? Cut a hole in the ceiling? I have an access hole that is about 10 x 14 inches. The only other hole is where my air filter was installed. I'm guessing the air filter ductwork would need to be removed

@@adamr8628Florida code allows a contractor to demand a larger opening for equipment. The homeowner isn’t obliged to provide it, but the contractor can walk away. Some homes have different spacing for joists. During the building process they may have designed a larger opening. If your home is already built, it’s up to you to provide the required opening. It’s not the responsibility of the HVAC installer to open up a larger entry. With that being said, you would want to work with a contractor and HVAC installer at the same time in order to establish the requirements for the desired system, which would give the construction contractor something to design from. Note, the requirements for higher SEER2 ratings is resulting in larger coils which increase costs and space requirements in many cases. What fits today, may not fit tomorrow.
