The terrible quality of steel today or even in the last 10-15 years or so. The old tanks would last over 50 years easily especially the tanks with the seam welded dome ends .Just crazy this one not even 10 years old. Great job Steve real professionally done and neat & I like the way you cut it up too ....I use to work for the airlines the factory would line the tanks in the planes with PRC sealant never corrode great product. Never see that in oil tanks they would go out of business if they did that, Ha! Planned obselecsense strikes again I guess....

Mixture of crap steel. Bio diesel attracts water. Water will sit on the bottom and rot out the tank. From what I've read if there's a lot of water it will create mold feeding off the bio diesel. I would believe if your filter is really slimy there's a lot of water in the tank. They do sell an additive to add to diesel at napa to dispurse water. I never used it. After watching Steve replace all these new tanks, think I'll give it a try.

Made out of Chinesium. Seems like a slight tilt towards the outlet side might keep a puddle from forming and staying at the bottom. If its tilted away water will never drain or go out with the fuel.

The customer was smart changing that tank, it was ready to burst at that spot. I would say that the old tank was defective out of the factory, the metal looked to have cross contamination in that area. And why don't they coat the inside bottom with a better coating, it couldn't be but an extra 20 bucks to coat the bottom where the water and goop accumulates with an epoxy coating.

Yes water from condensation and any other source settles to bottom of tank. It's heavier than oil, and is the cause of tanks rusting out from the inside. If you pitch the tank, any excess water will settle in bottom of the oil filter, and be taken care of when maintenance is done.@@anthonyesposito7

You would need a big water separator because they are filling fast with a 1.25 inch fill pipe and under pressure. diesel engines use maybe 3/8 pipe at a much slower rate witch give the water time to separate.
