Top bloke for sharing this, my cheese sensor like most completely turned to fondu. The only mistake I made was when I struggling to get the clip back in and realised that I was trying to fit 2 'O' rings between the flow turbine adapter and the flow sensor! Otherwise not too bad, the silicon grease helps to seat the adapter and there is a definite clunk when it's in place. Leak sorted and as per the commentary, the hot water seems to arrive faster at the tap due to the flow restrictor working properly.

Top tip for any newbies like me; the large o-ring on the adaptor needs to slide all the way over the (cheese) nut then over the plastic lip. I had it the nut side of the lip first try and so it would not click in to the housing; DOH. Managed the clip after ten attempts by pushing the copper and sensor part back and wiggling the long side of clip into the right side first which then helped getting it down and in on the left side. Unfortunately the grey wire other side of connector popped out so given sensor had no power the boiler did not provide hot tap water; obviously the job of the sensor to prevent a burnout if no water, so stripped bit of the outer doubles it up and pushed it back in; et voila hot tap water once again. Thanks for the video.

Hi great video thank you my question my boiler is constantly making water and discharge through the PRV valve which I have replaced it is not the filling loop the cold water mains inside the boiler has condensation and with a screwdriver I can here water flowing with hot tap off in the house boiler is a greenslave oil burner
@HeatingGeek Жыл бұрын
Mains water is getting into the heating system somehow. Look for older filling loops left on the system. The condensation in the boiler points to the mains water continuously running through the boiler. This could be a manifold that has failed or the plate heat exchanger. I suggest you listen to these items. What is a green slave? Greenstar heatslave?

Great video…thanks so much for sharing. Really helped. Unfortunately in my case it was still leaking after the change? Im pretty sure ive done something wrong but not sure where. Seems like i did everything the same as this vid. Is it normal for the sensor pipe to be put back in with full force while trying to at the same time insert the clip back in. This part was a nightmare for me and just as long as the the rest of the job. Which is why i was even more gutted when the leake didnt stop. Repeated the process for good measure but still leaked. One thing i didnt need to do was undo the bottom nut of the sensor pipe….didnt need to as the top part pulled out with a little twist and turn. Any advice from anyone would be much appreciated.

This repair requires the combustion chamber seal being broken. The boiler then needs the combustion setting up. This is definitely a job for the pros.

I have an older model, without the green plastic cover over the diverter valve motor, and when the flow sensor/flow restrictor leaks the water goes onto the motor/actuator. This meant that the diverter valve actuator wasn't operating, and resulted in no CH, luckily I managed to repair it by just pulling out the diverter valve motor, dismantling it and then lubricating the seized bearing with WD40, this cured the problem and saved £50 for a new motor :)

Those Wooshitter Botch boilers and their cheap plastic parts. But, the boilers aren't cheap to buy - much more than other better boilers. The customers always say "Which Magazine always rates them highly". Hmm. Thanks for another excellent one, HG.

I need one of those in USA, and it costs $310. I might just get an electric water heater.
