What wonderful actors are both Johnny and Lucy.The scene is so real in that you can feel Sherlock's realising his addiction will never be fixed instantly,it will always be something he has to work on to stay clean. Sherlock who always can deduct others has to confront his own confliction.The scene is thoughtfully carried out and is very real. Addiction affects even the sweetest,kindness and most beautiful people who all have their own mountain to climb. Having a friend who does not push or scolds you but listens and offers help.Sherlock and Joan rather Lucy and Johnny capture what many addicts experience.

Oh my god I love this show SO MUCH! I really do think it's underrated because people keep comparing it to BBC's Sherlock, which is really unfair because of how different they are.

THE bbc SHERLOCK DOES NOT EVEN COME CLOSE TO ELEMENTARY..............PERIOD
@Galvion19804 жыл бұрын
I actually love both shows...but Elementary has better writing, characters fleshed out better, plays with the canon in a way that I find cleverer than BBCSherlock...BBCSherlock has a more interesting cinematography, though, wonderful visualizations of how an ADHD mind works...both shows have merit.

Yes, I agree. The BBC series with Benedict Cumberbatch is no match for Jeremy Brett, Basil Rathbone, and John Lee Miller's portrayal. Lucy Liu has played her part admirably and with that subtlety which is an important part of Dr.Watson's persona. The language is fantastic and the respect Sherlock Holmes has for Captain Gregson/Detective Bell unlike his distaste for Scotland Yard and Lestrade in the book.

One of the most eloquent and beautifully written and performed pieces of dialogue I've ever heard, and which speaks of such pain and sadness that can be related to by anyone who has ever struggled with the overwhelmingness of life.

Agreed. The one that gets me is the fact that all your tedius devotion to it returns only the promise of not dripping. That is the best you can get. Not. Dripping.

I always love these little moments in Elementary where Sherlock opens up. Personal favourites are this scene, the season 2 meeting scene where he says about wondering about being born in another time and the scene between sherlock and Fiona where he tells her about how he finds relationships hard but she is worth the challenge
@matthewcoates7562 жыл бұрын
Completely agree with you. One scene that really resonates with me is in the episode “All In The Family” when he admits to a depressed Bell that he’s a drug addict, but he uses it to show how Bell might be down but not out.

I had a picture made of a path into beautiful, blurry, sun-kissed woods that retreats into dark nothingness and I added the section of the Frost poem Joan gave Sherlock. It’s wonderful because I can have it on display and nobody knows what it means but me.

Sherlock Holmes : If you must know, Watson, I've been feeling a little bit down of late. It's the process of maintaining my sobriety. It's repetitive. And it's relentless. And above all, it's tedious. When I left rehab, I... I accepted your influence, I committed to my recovery. And now, two years in, I find myself asking, 'is this it?' My sobriety is simply a grind. It's just this leaky faucet that requires constant maintenance, and in return offers only not to drip. Dr. Joan Watson : You have your work, you have me. You're alive. Sherlock Holmes : I've told myself that many times. So many times, it has become unmoored from all meaning. Odd. I used to imagine that a relapse would be the climax to some grand drama. Now I think that if I were to use drugs again, it would in fact be an anticlimax. It would be a surrender to the incessant drip, drip, drip of existence. Dr. Joan Watson : I'm sorry you're feeling this way. What can I do to help? Do you want to talk more, do you want to maybe speak to Alfredo? Sherlock Holmes : Yes, I think perhaps I will see Alfredo. But in any case, I shan't be using drugs this evening.

This is what i don't like about Elementary Sherlock is not a addict. He is a user. He binges sometimes, but the drugs never controlled him.

Are you kidding? He's absolutely an addict in the books. Watson straight up describes it as "drug mania". The only difference is that Holmes can substitute case work for his drugs, but he's still an addict. He does cocaine three times a day at one point. Further, this is better writing than "Sherlock ignores how addiction works because magic". It's a better story. Which is more important.
@zackstoner45233 жыл бұрын
@@John_Smith. Nobody is talking about the books. If you can substitute hard drugs with puzzles, and have no ill affects or cravings that is not a addiction. You do not know the definition of addiction clearly.
