This is a stark contrast to what the town looks like today!

I moved to Leamington on Dec.8, 2021. From what I can see in the film is that Leamington used to be a very nice clean town. There is a walking path that goes from Seacliff up to Oak St. Behind Food Basics and Freshco. There is so much litter and trash in that so called creek, it's filthy. Also litter and trash in other parts of this town. Leamington is a lot busier than I thought it would be. There is no small town feeling here.

@@lh3168 : This is very, sad. I spent my summer of 86 there, and have fond memories of the place. I was 20 at the time, I'm 57 now. Have thought many times, about visiting again. An attempt to recapture my youth, I don't know. But from what you say; I would not recognize the place now. I remember taking that trail down, over Seacliff. There is a little beach there, from what I remember. I'm from Newfoundland myself, so it ended up being one of my favourite spots to hang out. There was also, this lovely, little, restaurant at the end of this peer, that I really, enjoyed going to, as well. Is that still there? Warmest Wishes. Be Well and Safe. Out. 😊🖐🏼

0:58 - This is wild. This was recorded the very year I visited Leamington on a summer, work term. Spent a few weeks out, on one of the farms, then the rest of my time in Leamington proper. I was just, 20 at the time. It has become one of the more, nostalgic memories of my summer of 1986. I'm from Newfoundland by the way, and living in Gander at the time. I now, reside in St. John's. Leamington is a lovely, little, place that I would not mind visiting again. Much Love and Warmest Wishes. Be Well and Safe. Out. 🙂🖐🏼

This is so weird. I have lived in Leamington for 14 years since 2010 and I recognize every street shown and I went to Mill Street Public School from 2009 to 2013. My time is so different than what was shown in this video

Back in the 1970s to 1990, it was a great place to live. Today all you see is a drug-infested town with tons of theft going on and nothing done about it. Today you can't even buy a home unless you are a doctor or lawyer and if you do manage to buy a house you are not just dealing with a mortgage but also the ridiculous property tax they hike almost every year, There's way too much greed in this town they make it very hard for people to live here.

Sadly, it seems like most of Canada is getting like this Brother. It's no better if you rent, either. I'm from Newfoundland myself, and spent the Summer of 86, 85 or 86 but I think it was 86 there, first working on the farms then later getting a job in the Nabisco factory, before returning that fall. I loved the town and have fond memories of it, myself. I remember this outdoor, sidewalk, restaurant, stand that I used to love to go to set, relax and have a snack. There was this restaurant on this peer too, which I enjoyed going to, but I've been told it is no longer there now. Trying to get an up-to-date walking tour of the place but can't seem to find one anywhere. So sad to know the town has gone downhill like this. Hope it improves in the future. Tell me, is Nabisco still there? My Best. Out.

Leamington where your property tax keeps going up while people are already struggling to survive and let's not forget all the theft and drugs this town has to offer.

Today you can't buy a home since the prices have doubled and the jobs do not pay enough for the mortgage and bills. The youth of today have no chance to see what it's like to own a home also the drugs pouring into this town have just made a mess we are seeing more crimes of car break-ins and people looking for anything to sell so they can buy drugs. The property tax is just ridiculous this town has no mercy on homeowners or new buyers it's just getting too expensive to live here anymore.

@@tonyzr2-lg7xv : Hey, Brother, good day. How are you? Fine I hope. Thanks for the quick reply. Ya, I watched the rest of this vid again, and felt so much nostalgia, even though I'm not from that area. Aspect of the time they presented, I guess, which was the same everywhere. I'm struggling to understand how it is I managed to miss this festival, as I was in the town in either 85 or 86 but whichever it was, it was in the Summer time, and around when they would have had this, but don't remember it. I believe, I was off the farm and living in town at this point, but we are going back nearly, 40 odd, years now, so I can't remember many of the details now. Yes, Brother, I currently, live in St. John's, our capital, and even, here it is the exact, same, thing. St. John's is turning into a real, craphole and for the same reasons you mention here. Can't speak so much for the house buying part, but rentals have gone completely, through the roof. We too, have a big problem with drugs and homelessness, and no one seems to be willing to get on top of it properly. Not sure if it's the sign of the times or not, but God, is it ever, depressing. Looking at this vid here, is like looking back at a golden era or something, which you once, had in many parts of Canada. Yes, I liked the place so much, I seriously, was contemplating staying there, but if I had, I guess, I too, would be facing all these things now, as well. Well, I had to come back and tie up loose ends at this end, so it did not seem practical or feasible at the time, anyway. I'm trying to get some up-to-date walking tours of the town but can't seem to find anything. The few up-to-date clips I can find does not seem to show the town as it was here. Nowhere near the same type of richness and vibrancy you see in this vid here, which is so sad. I ate at the outdoor, restaurant, stand, you see in this vid, several times, and loved it. It all, felt so exotic to me. Ya, my time on the farm was somewhat, trying, but my time in town was a blast. Have great memories and have wondered if I should make a return visit sometime in the future. I'll turn 60 next June, and honestly, cannot deal with this, at all. Yes, Brother, these things seem to be effecting the whole country, actually. How we can change it around or if we can change it around at all, I have no idea. I sure, hope so, and soon. Warmest Wishes and My Best from the Rock. Out For Now. 🙂🖐🏼
