What is a Ro-Ro ship?
CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY SHIP (IMO: 9574078)
Ro-Ro is the acronym used to define Roll on-Roll off cargo ships. It is a specific segment within the universe of navigation. In a free translation, Roll on-Roll off means Roll in-Roll out. A more accurate definition would be a “rolling cargo” ship, that is, one that embarks and disembarks from a rolling ship. Unlike the container ship, the Ro Ro ship is all closed. It is like a large vertical parking lot with several internal ramps where, in most cases, it is possible to adjust the height of the floors according to the type of cargo.
