Awe!! The King’s Palace! And the HMKG!! Warms my heart. My granddaughters would say julenissen as “you no listen” as Farfar and I would try and correct them. It’s a joke now here in our home.

Hi Cemile, I love this sweater and the pattern. It's called a Marius sweater in Norway. This one was actually knit by my grandmother

Jól or Jólnir or Father Jól, are names for Odin, according to Wikipedia. Our “traditions” of today, seem mostly like modern things. I’m not sure if Christ was born on December 25. I do not believe the calendar was invented yet, at that time. I like Christmas, Yule, but I am skeptical about what we are doing. In this video, for example, a man is playing with dolls. Do we need an excuse for playing with dolls? ;-)

I think traditions are ever changing rituals. Probably that was also the case back in the pre-Christian ages. Seems like our year is filled with excuses to celebrate and play... Much driven forward by the mechanisms of capitalism perhaps. The Nisse is constantly being re-invented so that we have to go to the store and buy the latest edition. Anyways, you have some interesting views! Thanks for sharing :)
