This is the best video I’ve ever seen. Thanks for introducing this hobby in a way that is fun, full of energy and shows how many different kinds of people can enjoy, and come together. And you can streamline the game even further by ignoring unit special abilities, just introducing them as your gamers get comfortable with the basics. So many factions to pick from, you've got pretty much any style or look you can imagine for a person's tastes. Especially if they like skulls. Lots of skulls :)

What I like about this video is that it perfectly exemplifies why these type of games are so much fun. The scenario is ridiculously simple but still immediately creates tension through the charge dice throws. And bang! A story starts to be created between the players. It does not matter that there is no terrain or the figures are not painted but in the minds eye of the girls and indeed the viewer we see two orcs charging possibly out of a jungle or heavily wooded area ambushing an unsuspecting victim. One orc trips over his own feet and the other much faster orc runs too fast and is killed dead in his tracks. We collectively create memories with these game and yes they are very static models, no computer animation or video media here but our imaginations fill in the blanks. Thoroughly entertaining presentation and I look forward to watching the rest of the series.

I've stumbled into warhammer 5 years ago, coming from board games (forbidden stars specifically) and it has become one of my favourite hobbies. For me building minis is a lot of fun (which surprised me because I thought it to be a nuisance) but once I've done my first set it became like lego playing, equipping and decorating my warriors. The games (40k and AOS) are cinematic and the core concepts fairly easy - the complexity comes from the various factions and their rules and strengths.
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed 3 жыл бұрын
My pal Joel Eddy from Drive Thru Games went through a similar journey. He was playing Silver Tower (they're more board game styled minis game), and got interested, grabbed a couple warscrolls for those models, and now he's got loads of painted models :)
@indigosunszenith7485
@indigosunszenith7485 3 жыл бұрын
Agreed, I didn't think that building models would be that fun but picking and choosing what parts I want to use and seeing how it really gives each model a different feel or character is so much fun! It also gives a great feeling of completion to my ADHD brain while still not needing a ton of brainpower. The lego comparison is apt, my friend called it "Bionicle for people who are too old for Bionicle but still want to play with Bionicles"

What this series needs is a simple, step by step guide to assembling the models because that's the biggest hurdle for many, myself included. Many other miniature games come with complete models, in GW products, all the body parts are separate. That might have been a requirement 30 years ago when plastic manufacturing wasn't where it is today but now it should be a thing of the past.
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Ozzy, I have a little video here showing how to assemble the minis: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnPGhZ5qdt-hmtE Not sure if you're on Instagram, but I'll be launching a little batch of videos there showing how to assemble a miniature there in a couple days as well. I kind of disagree on assembly being a thing of the past. I can appreciate not wanting to do it, but the quality of model you get because these aren't just one or two pieces (so a factory can assemble them) is what makes them (in my opinion) unmatched in quality compared to any other miniatures. Now of course, not everyone cares about that - but part of the draw for many people is the quality of the minis in these games.

It's a shame too, since arts and crafts are pretty popular with women and nonbinary people, and miniatures wargaming is like 70% building, customizing and painting miniatures. I feel like as the hobby loses that veneer of inaccessibility and as more people who aren't part of that "old boy's club" join the hobby and become more visible within it, we're going to see more diversity within Warhammer and other miniatures games.

@@WatchItPlayed Awesome!!! Currently building some tree revenants (with some of the spite revenant parts because they're cool) for Warcry. Anyways I'm super excited to see the rest of this series and possibly more Warhammer content on this channel if Games Workshop sees the value in y'all's work, which I'm certain they will!

Great video Paula & Monique! I've been playing Warhammer for a while and I have to say this is the best intro I've seen. I'm guessing you missed this on purpose, but technically Paula should have won because she scored 2 sixes in her different attacks and Kruleboyz have a special ability that gives them "Mortal Wounds" on sixes. I'm guessing you were just keeping things simple, but as a Kruleboyz player I wanted to see justice for the boyz. Looking forward to the next one!

i believe the tutorial games dont introduce allegiance abilities until later in the tutorial
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed 3 жыл бұрын
Haha - understandable! The Allegiance abilities don't come into play until later. The scenarios here introduce things a bit at a time, but just know that your Kruleboyz were giving those Stormcasts a fighting chance ::)

Oh believe me, I know! The cruel injustice of not getting to take advantage of those 6s during this tutorial scenario!

At 8:40 Vindicator rolls a 6. On the battlecard it says that it is a mortal hit. I realise this is the first tutorial but would that have been insta kill in real game?
@WatchItPlayed
@WatchItPlayed 3 жыл бұрын
Yep! As you mention, in this game we aren’t using all of the abilities just yet. The Kruleboys also have some additional tricks that Paula isn’t able to use just yet, but those will come out more later :)

Don't encourage the pile of shame! :D Nice video, I was sceptical to begin with, looking for an intro video to 3.0 that was concise and presented, rather than just sprawling 45 min video of a few people just playing, or a talking head. Very nice edit, keeping it to 16 mins is a manageable length. This is some top tier Warhammer content when you look at what else is offered.

Honestly they need more female representation in Warhammer. It's totally old-school sexist in many ways. I mean, it's way better than it was in 2000, or even 2010, but still it's not there yet.
