Jazakillahu Khair. This is absolutely great!! I have been looking all over for learning Fusha Arabic through Comprehensible Input and this is by far the best made and put together resource I have found!! I even enjoyed hearing the Saudi dialect and it's differences. Please continue to make these and I hope, in time, you will progress to Intermediate and Advanced levels so I can grow with it. Hey, first of all THANK YOU for your great job! It''s unbelievably difficult to find good student books for Arabic in any lang and these videos help a lot! SHUKRAN!!! QUESTION: Do Arabs text each other in fusha or in their dialect? Question 2: If some dialects are so different and sometimes hard to be understood by natives, why don't Arabs from different countries just use Fusha to communicate?

Glad to help!! For the first question we use our dialect to text , write comments, tweet Etc. We use FUSHA for formal writing. For the second question: all Arab understand each other dialects except for North African countries (Morocco Tunisia Algeria) Sometimes if they live in the Gulf for example they use khaliji dialect ,or Sometimes they speak to us in FUSHA. But in the end of the day we all can understand each other to some degree :)

ok some are in MSA and some are not, documentaries are Usually in MSA but drama in dialect . The second story shows why arabic subtitle worth nothing. You switched words between what is written and what is said. مكتوب "الطعام" وتقولي "الاكل" مكتوب "منزل" وتقولي "بيت" مكتوب "عائلتها" وتقولي "اهلها" مكتوب "تذهب" وتقولي "تروح" مكتوب "نعم" وتقولي "ايوة" مكتوب " حزينة" وتقولي "زعلانة" and that's just from what I managed to pick up...
