I've been playing self taught for about 12 years, I'm 26 now. I can just about play the TAB's as I read them, just by having the guitar so memorized/muscle memory etc.. You were so absolutely clear on instruction, even dealing with minor and major common mistakes that feel unnatural or obstruct your fluency in playing were explained... Jesus..one amazing teacher. Right when I tried to think ahead and question a confusing method for placement, you were already answering it..

This took me 2 weeks to get through and memorize, thanks for the tutorial. You're very well spoken, concise, and give great advice on certain parts of the piece. This was definitely more difficult than Gymnopedie 1. Saw some commenters saying you talk too much, but I don't really understand that sentiment. Guess they just want purely tablature instead of a competent lesson, your tutorials are the best on youtube.

Fun fact, with the Baroque style, the trills start on the higher note, and pull-off to the lower note, as opposed to the common style of hammering on to the higher note.

Thanks so much for this lesson. I've been learning it on my own for the last week or so and I definitely nailed the A section and can pretty much play it at speed, with little to no miss-steps, but you're so right about the B section needing more dedication to practicing. Since I've started watching and rewatching this video tutorial I have definitely benefitted from your tips and suggestions. Now I can play the whole A part and the first few measures of the B part. Just want to say thanks again for the video. Bach was a rocker of his time and after learning this tune and listening to more of his songs I genuinely feel like if I could bring Bach into this modern time just to show him some musicians and guitarists that I like today that he would also enjoy them and be impressed by the music.

Great lesson, thank you for this. Having the sheet music underneath the clear shot on your fingers was great. I would pause when you had the measures up, practice on my own trying to get the part, then watch how you did it to see where I could improve my technique. I spent all week learning this piece and can play it by memory now- not at speed though, that's going to have to come with more practice. Honestly I'm going to have a hard time following along with other lessons now if they don't have the sheet music up like this; it makes it really convenient to practice at your own pace.

@@BUBBA4428 Some of it I guess. The tablature for it was in a Guitar magazine I had when I was a kid. So I sat down to try and figure it out. As I sorted out the notes, I just went with the timing that made the most sense. I got most of it right except for the little run down before the first part starts over because the last note didn't seem to fit, so I left it out. That and the end I slowed down which made it quite different but actually gave the song a bit more soul. Otherwise the rest of it was pretty dead on.

@HubGuitar5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Actually this piece was written for lute; at the time that Bach died (1750), the classical guitar as we know it today was not as popular an instrument as it is now. In fact, it wasn't really until Segovia (1893-1987) that it became commonplace to reinterpret the classics on the guitar. But unfortunately there was little repertoire written specifically for guitar, other than that of the great maestros Giuliani, Sor, Tarrega, etc, so classical guitar players often took works like this one and re-interpreted or adapted them for their instrument. Segovia was really a trailblazer in this regard. Most or all of the techniques used on classical guitar can also be done on steel string guitar. With the exception of some virtuoso pieces written specifically for classical guitar that showcase nylon-string techniques such as rasgueado and four-finger tremolo, almost all "classical guitar" music is quite well-suited to be played on the modern steel-string guitar. This means that there's no reason why a steel-string guitar player should be discouraged from playing this repertoire, which is why I've created this lesson. TLDR; you can play this and almost any classical music on the steel-string guitar, and there's no reason not to! Grey
