Great tutorial, definitely the start of what I've been looking for. Any chance you could make another one of these as a follow up, showing how we can play animations, such as when the player moves? I'd like to be able to have an idle animation and a walking/running animation but I have no idea how to go about doing it... that would also go for jumping such as over obstacles/gaps etc. Thanks for the videos so far, really looking forward to more!

Do you have tutorial for this where you have a Crouch (duck down) function for when you press a button for down? a lot of Unity KZbinrs dont add that to their videos. its always just walking and jumping and never crouching. 2D action platformers like castlevania and metroid style are still very popular to new 2d creators

Yes you can use any method to move it. It's a good practice not to combine physics functions with other transform movement functions. It can give wrong results sometimes..

I am having trouble, 1. I create 2D Circle, Rename Player 2. Create New C# Script and rename Player 3. I click on Object, and then try to drag the new blank C# script into its Inspector but get an error saying Can't add script. The script don't inherit a native class that can manage a script. If you get any errors, add an f, otherwise it will automatically covert it to a float in most of the cases :)

Using Translate doesn't use physics so you don't need to put it in fixed update? And use *Time.deltatime

Yes, you can do that.. Actually a lot of people get confused seeing deltaTime, that's why I have used it in the FixedUpdate()
