This does not seem particularly intuitive to me, so I know I will need to watch this a few times. Or maybe I just need to clear my brain with a good nights sleep for once. Crazy hot in Thailand now, 102F almost every day. Thank you, it was well presented, Jay.

Great video sir!! I’m trying to teach myself Linux and I have learned a lot from you!! Quick question sir how do I set up a FQDN? And learn more about it? I’ve heard people talk about it from time to time and I have a Unifi Cloud key switch AP USG and i’ve heard people talk about setting one up with their network but that’s what I’m trying to learn and also how to set up best practice with security for the server I actually built it so definitely want to protect it the best I can! Thank you sir

Probably a sub-neting matter but what was the reason you gave navi inside hosts file the ip 127.0.1.1 instead of 127.0.0.2 (Then they would be part of the same network)

I believe it was just a random IP, as an example. To my understanding, hosts file acts just a local dns that informs the computer there is a host with name ravi and the IP address 127.0.1.1. I haven't seen anyone actually give IP adresses to a device in subnet 127.0.0.x .

If you are developing something I would recommend something like an Ubuntu or a lighter flavor. If you are willing to set things up and go through the install something like arch would be lighter and would have most to everything you will need either in the repos or the aur. I use pop os on a potato and it works fine.
