I teach the slot style of salsa. I feel the arm should be relaxed but if you start letting the beginners really move with her arms and they are not in the correct tension to be ready for the leads. Interesting movement. I have never heard of that before.

I do agree that Casino's big styling can cause confusion for some beginners, especially if they already have trouble relaxing their arms. But you can still have a very solid lead and follow with it. You can see it's the same pattern repeating during the guapea, and breaking that pattern cues the follow that something's happening. The movement becomes part of the baseline in the same way NY or LA Salsa's more stable hold is the baseline. Give it a try if there is a Rueda de Casino dance near you, it's a lot of fun!

Hi, I noticed that when you teach it then the hands connect on 5 but when you dance it with music then hands connect on 3. I guess 3 is more natural
