I lived in Egypt when I was young and I spoke Egyptian fluidity but when I moved to America I had not a lot of people to talk it with so I forgot it so watching your videos are really helping me out. Make more common phrases please I really need the practice

Thank you for this, brother. I am in the USA and have recently become close with an Egyptian family. While the children are my age and speak english, I want moreover to build a relationship with their parents who speak Egyptian Arabic. This is so helpful, I've already recognised most of what you've said based on what I hear them say. Good stuff.

السلام علي كم، يا استاز. شكرا جزيلا على درس. I have a small question for the how much sugar , can we use بكم instead of قداية ? Thank you in advance.
@Linguamid Жыл бұрын
بكم is used for asking about the price .. so when you say بكم السكر it means: how much sugar? - قد ايه is for the quantity So قد ايه السكر means how much (quantity) sugar? 1kg or 2kg...

For تسلم ايدك, why do we use تسلم, not يسلم ? If we are saying "may God bless" I would assume we would use the conjugation for هو.I guess I'm confused who is the implied "doer" of the action, or if this is a passive conjugation as in "may your hands be blessed". I'm not familiar with the passive. If you have any insight I would appreciate it, as I am stumped! Thanks!

Why is it that sometimes in Egyptian you pronounce the qaf (Muqabilat) but other times you don't (qamr > 'amr)? Is there a rule about this?
@Linguamid4 жыл бұрын
Yes.. Almost 99% of words with k'aaf we pronounce with hamza (2) instead in Egyptian Examples: K'amar > 2amar K'awy > 2awy
