That's great, thanks! I'm working on my American English accent. You are from Canada, but you sound to me very American. I know both accents are similar, but have you maybe lived in America for a long time?
@proactivepronunciationАй бұрын
Thanks! That's great. Nope:) The general American accent is spoken in most of all North America including Canada... It's mainly the east coast dialect that is noticeably different from GA with the exception of a few vocabulary differences between the two countries. Hope that's helpful!

Hello, how're you, Teacher? I have a question teacher, I've watched all of your videos on KZbin, and you're such an amazing teacher, the question is about the American accent, I've mastered the Retroflex R, do you think I have to switch to the Bunched R to have better American accent?
@proactivepronunciation4 ай бұрын
Hello! Great question: No, not at all. There are many different ways to achieve an "r" and these are just two descriptions of the changes in tongue position to get that sound. If you feel you have mastered the sound with a retroflex or more curled tongue position great! It doesn't matter how you achieved it and which position you found it easier to elicit. I hope that helps answer your question!
@hussain15884 ай бұрын
Thank you, Teacher. I've mastered the American R, and I'm shadowing to improve my American pronunciation, is it a Good way?

"Mr President, I'd like to thank you for your time today" - In the audio "today" is pronounced with a rising tone. It's a standard intonation for phrases of time at the end of a sentence.

Would you please tell difference between american and canadian accent?
@proactivepronunciation4 ай бұрын
All of North America speaks the general American accent (GA). There is no difference between American and Canadian accents specifically, only dialect differences in regions and few vocabulary variances. This occurs in both America (eg the southern accent or the New york dialects) and Canada (East coast dialects). For example, famous Canadians include: Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Gosling, Jim Carrey, Rachael McAdams, Alex Trebek, William Shatner, Avril Lavign, Justin Bieber speak GA.. and the list goes on. I hope that helps!

@proactivepronunciation4 ай бұрын
I think that learning any language is an enormous task... but learning is a life-long process. Pronunciation of languages is no different. If you have motivation to learn, and love the process of learning, you'll make amazing leaps toward your goals. I wish you all the best:)
