Learn English collective nouns for animals.
A collective noun is a word used to represent a group of animals. They are often bizarre, for example, the collective noun for canaries is an "opera" while "whoop" is used for chimpanzees. Most of us know that the collective noun for lions is "pride" but it is much lesser known when we say a group of crickets is called an "orchestra" of crickets.
Unfortunately, there are many fanciful collective nouns in English, particularly for animals and it has become difficult to establish if they are acceptable in formal speech or writing.
English collective nouns are so plentiful that it is impossible to write them down here.
