present tense for future events is very common thing on various languages. It's very logical, because there is not such thing as "future". Future is an idea. Future events are not facts yet. Future exist only in our head. So, if you are planning/have intention to do something, it's logical to use present tense to say it. I think, grammatically there is not future tense in english. For "future" is used whether present simple + tommorow, or "to be going to" construction, or "will". It's all present tense ^_^ So, engish language, like many other languages, just uses some tricks to adopt present tense for telling about "future".
