I've defied the odds because I've just been listening to this podcast in my shower, working out my pronunciation 😂 and in my bathroom. I'm going through the hardship of a strong kneeache at the moment 😢

I am sorry to hear that. Sometimes I deal with knee pain too, it's very unpleasant. :(. I hope it improves soon.

@@EnglishLikeANative Hi, thanks for your nice message, I'm just back from the podiatrist to have new orthopedic soles, they'll be ready on Thursday, it's a left knee tendinitis, awful, never had that before, and the problem also comes from my left heel (it's called aponévrosite plantaire in French), it's also due to shoes which didn't keep my feet tight enough, especially during my West Coast Swing two-hour lessons on Tuesdays (I'm not going tonight 😭, I feel like an old granny with my knee hurting so badly 😂), I'm doing my best to cure the problem as soon as possible, which means within the next three weeks.

HI ANNE I am really blown away by your ability to come up with an overwhelming story simply by combining the previously seen vocabulary. Furthermore, I am more than impressed by the English level of its text. I have just one question for you: Do you start with the story beforehand and then pick up the vocabulary, or is it the opposite?

Thank you for your kind words. The method is a mix of both, there is generally a theme for the words (boating, theatre, travel, etc) then a mix of five words are chosen. And from there the story is created. Sometimes it’s tricky but as long as I have a theme it’s usually easy to create the story.

Hi Anna, which one is correct? Hardwork has paid off or hardwork has been paid off What is the difference between them ? Please reply
@fabrice9252
@fabrice9252 Ай бұрын
All depends on what you want to express. First of all, the form 'hard work has been paid off' is not correct. When you use 'has been' it suggests a CONTINUOUS action that has taken place in the past and still goes on at the moment. This is the Present Perfect Continuous (or Progressive). So, you have to use the 'ing' form for the verb and for example you could say: Hard work has been payING off for me since last year. (it has paid off for that period and still pays off now; there is a continuity here between the past and the present) 'hard work has paid off ' is the Present perfect, a time of the past that suggests a more recent past or a past that has still a link, a connection with the present time (opposed to the Simple Past for actions of the past that are finished and totally belong to the past) Try to figure out the difference between: 'My hard work has paid off, I've just passed my exam!' (recent past with still a link with the present time) 'My hard work paid off when I was a student.' (finished, that fact is bygone past, be it recent or not) Hope that helps. :-)
