“Do not become too attached” !! Exactly!! When all we had to create responsive websites was bootstrap and the 12 col system, that was wonderful! But now i see ppl bringing that 12col in to CSS Grid when they only need 3. I love grids and am a huge fan of the bento box trend. But just as I have to wrestle with my ocd when it comes to aligning text where technically it’s centered but the glyphs visually don’t look centered, gotta use grids as a starting point and not be obsessed with pixel perfect

Web design grid is not really a thing anymore since 2011 or something. There is that 12 column grid but it's obsolete. It existed because of technological limitations on how breakpoints work in web. Now we have this thing called "flexbox" which makes layout adapt to the content inside. So instead of using 12 column grids, web designers now use 4 or 8 px grid rule which means everything must be divided by 4 or 8. This allows more flexibility and visual consistency. Many designers don't know that, because they come from graphic design and don't know development so even seasoned designers use that 12 column grid mistakenly thinking its a norm especially when there is so much outdated info and misinformation on that grid. You really don't need a grid in web design anymore. For instance that playstation5 controller e-shop example doesnt use a gri, its based on 4 px rule, thats why when you tried to apply a grid on it, it doesn't look aligned or right.
