After 1,000 times trying to “get” it I now for sure see what a rocker is compared to a Choctaw! Your videos are SO GOOD because you explain so clearly and slowly how to Accomplish. 🎉❤

I am a roller skater, but this is greatly appreciated because I am trying so hard to learn the different turns and terms. Thank you!❤

Thank you for this! Rockers are probably a long way off for me but a lot of these tips are useful for my 3-turns too. The other day I "discovered" that pushing down with my hands helps with my balance (after you've said it many many times - sometimes I just have to have multiple revelations before it sticks!) I'm still two-footing the landing but my upper body's getting less wild so I think I'm on the way there....

When there isn’t an obvious circle, how do we know if we are facing into or out of it? I do it by ‘towards’ the circle the eyes are usually looking down,.

I have a question about skate sharpening. I sharpened my skates for the first time and when i went ice skating I can barely skate and it feels very rough and I can't do crossovers without tripping. I tried "getting used to it" but I can't seem too. Is this normal? any advice would be appreciated because it's making me really stressed knowing u can skate but not being able to do it.

The first time I got my skates sharpened I felt like I was sticking to the ice! It takes a skate session or two to wear off a wee bit of the sharpness - you can always practice your stops for a while to speed that up. 😉You do also get used to it a bit - I don't feel as uncertain for as long as that first time - but I still always plan on an extra-long warm-up after a sharpening before moving onto any moves I'm less confident with.

Are rockers really the last forward turns we're supposed to learn? I was taught rockers just after three turns, way before brackets, and waaaaaay before counters 😮
@CoachJulia Жыл бұрын
Hah. Well, that’s interesting. I don’t know where you skate, but here in the US they are the last one you test, and so usually taught last. But good on you for getting them earlier than that!

I find that it depends on each individual person relating to what turn is more difficult. For example, I find forward inside counters to be the most difficult personally, while forward inside and outside rockers came naturally.

Hmm…didn’t know the rocker turn comes after counters. At least FO rockers weren’t much of an issue, but FO counters…flutz! Never mind the FI rockers…
@CoachJulia Жыл бұрын
Yes, the FO Rocker is certainly the easiest of the bunch. The counters are pretty challenging as well!
@YannisGoedermans Жыл бұрын
I learned rockers before counters tbh.
@CoachJulia Жыл бұрын
Awesome! They are somewhat interchangeable in difficulty, a lot of people just have a little harder time with the exits of Rockers
