Merci beaucoup !

Scrolling through your video list this morning, my heart leapt as I recognized the title. About all that remains of 3 1/2 years of high school and college French is knowing that I had to memorize and recite the poem. I would subconsciously believe that I had no aptitude for foreign languages for the next 16 or 17 years, until I stumbled onto Spanish woven into music, and that belief disappeared. So I am reminded intensely of how many years I have fought to regain whatever French I had during those lost years of my life. On to the actual poem!

I am so sorry this poem brings bad memory to you because it is actually a French staple and it is a really good one! I know some of it by heart and I love saying : " si votre ramage se rapporte à votre plumage " Well, I hope you now enjoy French again and you understand the poem too Gerry!

I used an easy version of this earlier in the year with my level 1s, and now I can also use it with my level 2s in the past tense and with higher vocabulary. Merci Alice.

Karla Young Fantastic Karla! Yes, the story should be comprehensible enough for all levels 😊 On Sunday, I will read the authentic fable!

It is actually also one of Aesop's fables, number 124 in the Parry Index. In the original the crow held a piece of meat, but in the Latin retelling by Phaedrus it was replaced with cheese. De La Fontaine seems to have based his version on Phaedrus.

It is a raven.... i was trying for some half a minuit to figuire out what kind of bird is corbeau, untill you draw le fromage . then i recognised the story
@dejanjovanovic22983 жыл бұрын
@dejanjovanovic22983 жыл бұрын
In my country people give name Luka to children, not becouse it associates to Saint Lucas, but becouse it associates to a word "lukav" which means " a tricky one", "ruse". " I want him to be as tricky as a fox" they say. ...
