In this #greekvocabulary lesson, you're going to learn about 60 new Greek words, including nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, pronouns and more.
You're going to learn how to describe a house on the outside, by using simple sentences.
Don't worry if you don't know how to decline nouns, adjectives or pronouns yet! I'm going to make more videos to teach you all that soon. Let's take it slowly!
In this lesson we're going to see both a country house and an urban apartmenet building.
In future lessons we're going to see the interiors of a house and we'll learn how to describe each room and its essentials.

Hi Lina! I love your videos!. I would love if you considered making vocab videos for in doors, room by room. The kitchen, it's stove, oven, fridge, knives forks etc. Then the living room with the carpet, the couch, the tv etc. Then the bedroom, the mirror the bedside table, the cupboards etc. The bathroom, the shower and bath, the towels, etc... the study, the desk the books, etc.

Greetings from sunny Cyprus! Just to say many thanks for all your time and hard work. I learnt Greek in a Greek grammar class (where everyone could already speak the language) and it was all text book based (all writing and reading) not much speaking, so these are great for me to confirm accent/emphasis and check/revise words and pronunciation. Great to see you are so helpful also replying to people. I have downloaded the book you recommended in the seaside video - thanks for that! Any other free download recommendations?

Hi! Your comment made me realize that I didn't mention that αυτός , αυτή αυτό is also the 3rd person of the personal pronoun! However in this case, since there is the little pointing finger, it is the demonstraive pronoun! Thanks!

Hi, can anyone tell me the difference between η οροφή και η στέγη.
@linaaaap1
@linaaaap1 4 жыл бұрын
Hi οροφή can mean ceiling or rooftop, στέγη means roof, or rooftop, but not ceiling. The difference is slight. Οροφή has a more wide meaning.

Τα κτήρια γράφονται με "η" διότι ετυμολογούνται από την λέξη "κτήτωρ" και όχι από το "κτίζω".

One important thing to bear in mind, Lina, is that here in the US, floors are numbered differently than they are in Europe. What you call the "ground floor" is what WE call the "first floor." The floor above that is the "second floor" (what you would call the "first floor"), our "third floor" is your "second floor," and so on. Your students should be aware of this difference in practice in order to avoid mistranslating from Greek to English or from English to Greek.
@linaaaap1
@linaaaap1 6 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes, I suppose there are some differences from place to place! But I think at least in this video it's quite clear, since I use the pointing finger and the exact translation! Thanks for sharing! :)

Well, that's on the American students to be aware of, not on the Greek teacher, let alone one that caters to a global audience, not an American one. Because in the same way that it would be helpful to Americans if she WERE to point it out expressly, it would create unnecessary confusion for all of her many non American students, so in the spirit of what's most helpful to most, it's best to refrain from elaborating on this,I'm pretty sure. I personally, when teaching, would only point this out to an individual American student, or a group of at least mostly American students. It seems quite entitled of you to even request this, I have to say.
