On a airsoft related topic. I'm a big fan of using RTV automotive silicone for r-hop patches. I put a bevel on the tip of a 6mm -1/4 inch punch and gave it a few wraps of teflon tape to fill the barrel and not scratch it. Then just blob the silicone in the hop window and smooth it out. Let it skin up for a hour , pull the punch out, cure over night. A hop patch good for 20,000 + bbs for about 25 cents of actual material and 15 minutes of your time.

I like that. I've seen that described as an S-patch, using sugru, but RTV silicone will do the same job without any messing around with mixing. A 6mm drill bit will work too. To smooth it out, just roll the barrel on a flat surface (with the punch or bit still in place), and the excess will squeeze out of the hop window.

I had that exact issue with my maple leaf rubber the best way to remove material is with a drill press get an old crap barrel pop it in the chuck, the bed of the drill press is perfectly flat (unless you've apprentice marked it) pop some high grit sand paper on it and wet it light pressure and boom perfectly even hop lips.

Early 2000s, when I last had AEGs, I found the tube type compression rubbers would get deformed over time and then reach a point where they would rotate slightly shot-to-shot and screw up the consistency. I would cut a new compression rubber from a thick o-ring and replace the tube type one with a solid rubber replica. It would make the adjustment very sensitive but also far more stable. Cheap and easy, probably put more wear on the hop over time being less compliant but I don't think I ever managed to fully wear one out.

Hey Luke, firstly must say loads of respect for what you do. Always entertaining and informative. Can I ask with the warhead motors it recommends removing the sleeving from the terminals on the motor. What’s your advise on this or should it be left on in case of shorting on the end cap? My mum was a medical secretary in a surgery in Thame. Don’t know why but it seems it’s always the case that people vent out on the staff over the phone. On the subject of hop units etc is it worthwhile putting a alloy unit into a cyma p90? I can only find the prowin blue one an it doesn't have a great reputation an I'm not keen on the idea of burning money for no reason

I tried the prowin and it was a waste of money. Air compression with the stock one ist pretty good. Changed piston, pistonhead, nozzle etc. to the fps airsoft p90 stuff and it's fucking amazing.

Not really a number, no. I set the hop for 0.25 (or whatever I use in that specific gun) and leave it there. As long as it hops the same -when warmed up- , it stays.

Only time you'd want to wind your hop off is when you're cleaning the barrel. Otherwise the only thing that's gonna wear the hop out is BBs passing by in use.

I've had it work great in some Ace1Arms hop-ups with madbull barrels in both of my AEG builds and Kythera build without any issues. However, in my friends Ace1Arms hop-up and his madbull barrel I had to modify a larger nub for it to get a proper press on the window. But other then that I've found they work great!

it won't hurt it. It'll just give you fire selections and its not really an install you just plug it into the battery and into the gun connections. The mosfet the krytac already has might be programmable. Please do your research before asking questions.

The only thing the burst avocado does is to switch fullauto or semi to 3 rnd burst. It won't hurt nor help your internals since you already have a mosfet installed.

R-Hop lost his place after all. There's no need anymore to pay so much or invest that much time to fit it to your barrel anymore. It made sense 10 years ago as the first heavy BB's showed up on the market, but the industry evolved and the R-Hop in general became obsolete. Besides that it makes no sense to install an R-Hop when you not use 0.36g or heavier. There are so many good systems out there, which do exactly the same if your need such a large contact surface to hop heavy ammo efficient. But for most standard rifle systems a Maple-leaf rubber or even a good standard rubber is all what you need for a good performance. When you use heavier ammo with more energy just get a Maple-leaf MR, TNT, Trusight, Airsoftphilosopher, Flamingo rubber or such thing. As easy to install and change when worn out as a regular rubber, but as capable of hopping heavy ammo as an R-hop. And everybody (should be able) to swap a standard constructed rubber on his/her gun, because as you say, it will wear out and it's simply a replacement part, the action belongs to regular maintenance of your gun.
