Freeze Miser

Күн бұрын

The Freeze Miser operates by sensing water temperature. It only releases water that has fallen below 37°F/3°C to prevent your water source from freezing. Its patented design allows the Freeze Miser® to sense the internal water temperature allowing no water to drip until the water temperature drops below 37°F/3°C. As the water temperature changes, so will the drip-rate. When water temperature is above 37°F/3°C, it shuts off.
This means better faucet freeze protection using the least water, even in the most extreme freezing conditions. You can protect faucets, animal waterers, water hoses, RVs, water wells, and more!

2 questions: 1. Let's say it stays at 35 degrees for a week, how much water would you lose in that time period? 2. Why doesn't the wax trap the spring in the open position when it expands again? Thanks.

My Miser failed releasing a continuous stream of water well above 40F...the price increase of the Misers is simply predatory

I don’t understand. I’m very interested by this, but one thing confuses me. I don’t want to turn my water on and build up a lot of pressure with a blocked opening with this on, yet the instructions say to open the valve all the way. Am I missing something?

Hi Markie, you will not build up any more pressure than you would that your faucet has. Also, it release the water when it is 37*f. Therefore drips off freeze miser onto the ground.

Every time you turn off your hose bib, you have a blocked opening and constant pressure. This is no different, except instead of the pressure being released only when you turn the knob to lhe open position, this one will also open very slightly on its own as temps approach freezing, and that allows a constant but slight trickle of water to flow through. To answer the question you posed in another comment, the reason you want a trickle of water is the same reason that slightly turning on the faucets in your house or your exterior house bibs when temps are expected to reach freezing has been one of the most common ways to prevent pipes from freezing for over a hundred years. When the water flows through the pipe, the source of the water is not freezing temperature.ground water tends to be around 48-55 degrees (F) in my state (WA). It can fluctuate slightly but not much. It's too far below the Earth's surface to be frozen by cold weather. Building code requires pipes in the ground to be buried a certain distance below the frost line, which is the maximum depth that frost can penetrate the ground in a given region. So, because that water comes from underground 1-2 dozen degrees warmer than freezing (32F), as long as it continues to flow, it will constantly provide enough warmth to the pipes to prevent them from freezing, because the water can replace the warmth faster than the ambient cold can sap it away.

This would never work here. My supply water to my home is 34 degrees.

Also, how is a drip in freezing temperatures helpful? Wouldn’t the drip just freeze and make it worse?
