Can I just say that Richard is the Boss! Had about 15 Jade shrimp for about 2 months that weren't doing much except for one hatch of about 10 babies. Made some changes according to your book and videos and literally had an "explosion" of over 50-60+ babies. You gotta get the book. Thank you Richard!!

I found this video bc my shrimp didn't breed and I wanted to know why. I didn't know how important protein is for them. I gave them shrimp food, leaves in many forms, cucumber but the only thing missing was meat. I gave them frozen food and bam, after couple of days even amano shrimp is carrying eggs right now. After one time feeding! Thanks for this video! You're the best!

So glad I took the “leave them alone” advice to heart the past few days! I was tempted to remove a decayed frogbit leaf but inspected first. There are five tiny baby shrimp on it, just loving the pickings!!! Learning to make peace with the snail battle too and not stick my hands in 😊

Hey Richard, I've kept shrimps since August 2023 and have lost and replaced several dozens of shrimps until the year end. Since new year I re-watch several videos on your channel, scaped and maintained my tank accordingly n now my shrimps are thriving with few being berried too! Thank you for all the guidance and making my shrimp keeping experience consequently frustration free!

bigger rocks in the water also helps keeping the temperature stable. they for example will capture heat during the day and retain and return that warms slowly at night. and of course the other way around as well. the stone cools at night and capture heat during the day.

I set up my first shrimp only tank the other week and waited until the tank had lots of biolfilm before adding them. I had 2 male cherry shrimp and purchase 6 more last week and they made sure I had a few females in there. The next day I came downstairs and one of them had the golden saddle 😊 I've even got cholla wood in a bucket so I can grow more biofilm for my shrimp. They've also got Indian almond leaves, shrimp lollipops, pellets and snowflake pop.. Plus the like the occasional bit of cooked broccoli and carrot too

Just did my first "harvest" from my oldest of now 3 seperate colonies. Got about 100 babies in a grow out bin, and a bunch more were left behind in the main tank. I'm estimating between all my tanks I went from 40 shrimp to at least 300 since December! Hoping to start selling some by April or May.

I just started a breeding tank. After 2 months managed to get 3 shrimplets . Started from a colony of 18 shrimps . The problem I’m facing is mosquito larvae . And dragon fly larvae .

Thanks to your videos I have been able to boom my Community of jade shrimp and I am very grateful for your channel. I do have a question you do cover in some past Videos how to avoid death in shrimp. But when they do die Should I remove the bodies from the tank. I ask because currently in my tank The Java moss has become a thick and nice house for my community of shrimp but at times I see dead bodies deep within the moss. Should I remove them and possibly disturb the rest of the community or just leave them be? I am afraid because my tank has been a stable and almost self sustained environment but then also afraid what negative affects the dead shrimp may cause. Once again thank you for your knowledge.

Hi Richard, i have a question. If i see eggs that a female has and shes fanning them. Does that mean they are definitely fertilized? I recently separated what few blue jellies my tank has to a different tank. They are definitely too young to have bred before, im hoping for all blue jellies. I didn't pick the best blue jellies i just grabbed every juvie blue jellies. Hoping i have both sexes. I am noticing the golden saddle on some..fingers crossed i have at least 1 male.. ty

Hie many shrimp would you say is the maximum for a 10 litre tank? I have downsized to 25×25×35cm tanks bevause i can have more so I will be able to seperate them by quality and have different colour variants. But i have limted space. I have 3 at the moment and have 10 in one, 4 in another and 8 in the 3rd.

Love your videos..one question, when you say feed frozen bloodworms do you just drop the frozen block in or defrost first?
@krawlspace9 ай бұрын
I look forward to Richard answering this, but I personally put a small bit of cube in a little cup and then add aquarium water, let it sit for 5/10 minutes before adding. Makes them swarm like crazy!
@FishKeepingAnswers9 ай бұрын
Over the years I’ve done it all ways. These days I typically take a cube of frozen bloodworms in my fingers, and gently swish it in each tank for a few seconds so some bloodworms fall off. I only have one large colony at the moment, and in that tank I typically just drop the cube in and wait for it to defrost and sink.

Hey Richard, I have an interesting scenario that I can't really find help on with my shrimp and I thought you could maybe provide me some insight. I have a 20 gallon aquarium with about 10 Blue Dreams, and I've had them for almost 8 months now. The tank parameters are all good. The shrimp are almost all fully grown. The males are actively searching the tank to mate with the females, but no matter what, the females won't accept. I haven't had a single berried female in the tank since I set it up. Ive seen several of the females saddled, so I know they have eggs. Ive done water changes, checked parameters, added more blues to get some genetic variation, but nothing. Can you help me out? (For more clarification, the water changes were very infrequent, and usually just topping up the tank. Ive also seen several molts so the shrimp are growing)

How can i control the snails in my shrimp tank?

It can be tricky. You can manually remove them or you could try adding Assassin Snails. The Assassin Snails will eat the other snails 👍🏻

My shrimp seem to be very picky. They don’t really seem to care for the crab cuisine. I’ll have to see what other stuff they want. I do dose daily with Bacter AE. So maybe they’re happy with the biofilm

You can, but the nature of guppies is they are as to breed, so any ‘rare’ guppies don’t stay rare for long 👍🏻

Buy a prefilter sponges foam rolls you put it on the intake filter. The water filter intake pipe can suck in shrimps. It was happening to me.
