Your tutorials have been so helpful. I've started making cc recolours. Do you know how to recolour cc items? Recently I recoloured an item of CC clothing. A T-shirt, but the mesh wasn't there when I went to use it in game. Do you know how to differentiate between recolouring items with a mesh rather than without in Sims 4 studio?

Thanks. I'm so glad if they've been helpful. When you want to deal with meshes, you generally have to use a program called Blender. That's for more advanced that what I'm showing in these tutorials, and I'm not one who works with meshes. So, my advice would be to look up Blender tutorials if you wan to get into that.

I just wanted to find out how you know if the item your recolouring has a mesh or not before you recolour it. This problem is only a thing when you recolour custom content.

@@TheBeautifulfreak Ah, I see. Generally speaking, most CC creators will tell you when there's a mesh involved with their creation within the description area of their creation. Another way you can tell is if the item looks nothing like any of the items in the game. That probably means, it's a separate mesh. Be aware that CC creators often don't want people recoloring their stuff. You've got to check their websites to see how they feel about that sort of thing. Sorry for the super long reply. :)

As long as you convert a larger image to a "smart object" in PS 2020, you won't lose quality when sizing it down. :)

I’m not sure it does. I mean, I think I cover that in the beginning of the video. The download info is on the site itself and I start from the very beginning, from when you first open Studio. I can’t start any further back in the process. As far as file path, you can choose to put Studio anywhere you want on your computer. That’s entirely up to you. There are no specific requirements in that regard.

my image came out as a question mark on the wall and when placed it became invisible -- though I can see the image in the catalogue and everything...is this due to the file type? cool vid btw! helpful!

It should be a png file. Also, if it's something with more than one texture, make sure you're importing to the right one. And thanks. I'm glad if it was helpful.

How could you? There are no pet clothes in the base game to my knowledge. Or are you talking about something else? Maybe I should ask, what exactly are you trying to modify?

Okay, so that's going far beyond a simple recolor. In fact, I'm pretty sure that would get into changing actual code, and I'm not entirely certain it's possible. I've never seen any of the human sim glasses or clothing items used on cats and dogs - not even anything by good modders. That said, I won't tell you with 100% certainty that its impossible. But you'd have to talk to someone far more advanced in CC creation than myself to find out for sure.

when i try to save it goes to my program files 86 and then sims studios. I have my sims on a external harddrive, should my sims studios be located in the same drive that my game is located?

Sorry, I was out of town when you wrote this comment. It's like any other files you save on your computer. You can save the package files where ever you want. Just make sure you know where you save them so you can access them again later.

I have the free version of photoshop and cant find out how to copy the image like you did with the dragon. my photoshop version looks so much different than yours and im so lost now.

I wasn't even aware that there was a free version of Photoshop. Regardless, there should be some kind of selection tool available. You would select the selection tool and then drag your mouse across the image to select it. Then you copy (Ctrl + c), then paste it where you want to put it (Cntl + v). Hope that helps!

I don't have a Mac, but I've never had a problem with it harming anything, nor have I ever heard of anyone having any issues with it harming anything. You have to make you're own call as to whether or not you want o heed or ignore that warning but, to my knowledge, it's entirely safe.

I've never tried to recolor tats, but I would assume the process is the same - just find the tat you want to recolor in Sims 4 Studio and go from there. That'd be my best guess.

Sounds like a bug. I'd try uninstalling studio, rebooting your system and reinstalling it. Maybe something happened that you got a bad installation or something.

it's the same with me but I already fixed it by changing the path of your game Sims 4 from the Settings (in Sims 4 Studio)
